RoCo is first team NBA All Defense, third in DRPM, Eighth in RPM. Shoots 37% from 3.

Tons of intangibles, toughness, scrappy. Complements this team well not needing touches as offense driven by LeBron/ Jokic

You guys need to watch some Sixers.
I watch a lot of 76ers games. He is solid. Just not in the same conversation as mvp candidates or as a top 50 NBA player.

I like Ron's team, but I'll score at will. Zero rim protection. I have 4 shooters > 40% from 3P and 5 others who are >37%. His 2 studs can only do so much.
You might score well and you might win but you aren't scoring at will.

Leonard is a 2x dpoy.

Giannis is an elite defender at all 5 positions.

I'll probably lose this matchup but I'll win it next year. People are really underestimating some of these players.

How is this even close. Ron, with Griff and Markk in the front court is laughable. Both want to play on the perimeter, and all the other team has to do is play LBJ at the 4 for big chunks of the game and interchange Horford and Jockic at the 5 the way the jazz do with Gobert and Favors and he creates matchup issues for Ron.
Those mismatches work both ways. Two lumbering big men will struggle to keep up chasing them around. Plus having 2 bigs that can handle the ball and shoot the 3 creates huge problems for the other team. Lauri is great as the ball handler in the pick and roll. Griffin is one of the most dynamic bigs in the NBA. He was a huge issue for the Jazz before he got hurt in the playoffs. We didn't have an answer for him.

Your team is great. Don't get me wrong. I just think I can exploit your lack of rim protection because you have to defend my 9 shooters.

Maybe, but you aren't scoring at will against 2 of the best defenders in the NBA. Giannis is a solid rim defender and is 7' tall now. Oh plus a really good defender at pg.

I'll agree though that Lauri and Griffin are not great rim protectors.

But you also have one of the worst defenders in the NBA at center. He doesn't stop anyone.

My team would score a lot of points. A lot of points.

Lmao, you do know Horford spent a lot of time guarding Simmons in the playoff series right, and he was shut down nicely in that series. And like I said his two bigs will interchange for most of the game since LBJ can play the 4, idiot.

Oh and I get a kick out of you calling Markk a better Porzingis. Who do you think you’re kidding other then OL?

Obviously you have watch much of him.

He'll surpass porz next year or the year after. He is a better shooter, better passer, better ball handler, and more Athletic. But Porz is a better rim defender and better in iso.

Interesting. I watched a **** ton of basketball, more then in years past, but ok.

Horford is a good defender but he isn't shutting Griffin down. Yes, LeBron can play the 4. But giannis can play all 5 positions. He is the most versatile player in the nba. He can guard all 5 positions very well.

Fair enough. I actually did not mean to direct the Sixers comment at you, it was more general for lack of recognition for what RoCo brings to the court. A top 5 defender not being in the top 50 does not seem right, especially with an ORPM of positive 1.2. 538 ranks him a BORDERLINE ALL-STAR with 5-YR MARKET VALUE: $170.9M.

None of those stats are perfect, but certainly indicate that many undervalue his impact on the floor.

I'm putting LeBron on Giannis and I think LeBron guards all 5 as well as Giannis.

And you do have 2 great defenders. I've got 4 in LeBron, Horford, RoCo and Richardson. Richardson will get a lot of playing time to help control your big 2.

Lebron can guard 5 positions, just not as well as Giannis. Especially the C position. Giannis has the length and size to play center. Lebron has not been playing defense, maybe that will change next year but I doubt it. He is focusing on offense now.

I have more than 2 good defenders. Poeltl is top 10 in defensive box +/- and top 20 in defensive rating, and is a great rim defender. Plus he is going to have a huge jump next year going to SA. On top of that James Johnson is a bad ***. Those two are solid defenders. If I need better bigs to play defense I can bring those guys in. Johnson can play the point forward as well. I also have Bledsoe who is known for his defense at PG. So if I want I can have an elite defense with 5 guys. I also have Oubre who is a really good defender coming off the bench. Oubre can guard 4 positions. He is going to be very good next year. There is no shortage of great defenders on my team.

Your Center is terrible at defense and you have Dirk coming off the bench. He can still shoot but that is about it. Next year is going to be ugly for him in his 21st season. He cant guard anything. You also have Korver coming in that cant guard anyone anymore at 37 years old. They have name recognition that helps in this but they are not good anymore. Oh and we already know how Nurkic does as backup to Jurkic and its not pretty. He might get better next year but he sucked this year and gave very low effort this season for Portland and would give next to nothing if he was benched. Conley really struggles on defense as well. There are plenty of holes on your defense.

So you have 1 big that plays defense and he is playing out of position. Horford is a good defender but far less so at PF and its pretty easy to pull him out of the paint. Not that he is much of a rim defender/shot blocker.

Also Griffin has owned Horford in his head to head matchups. Last year Griffin averaged 20 ppg against Horford and Horford average 8 ppg. Horford has never slowed Griffin down. Griffin has averaged 22 ppg, 9 boards and 5 assists vs him for his career. https://www.basketball-reference.co...lake+Griffin&player_id2=griffbl01&idx=players

There is a huge discrepancy between our benches. I have 5 guys that would make for a solid starting group coming off the bench. Being lead by Ingram who is really good and is going to have a big year next year.

Your Center is terrible at defense

Until you look at the facts

DRPM:
.....Poeltl = 0.94 (47th among centers). Behind Valanciunas, Cooley, Okafor, Bertans, Koufos and Plumlee
.....Jokic = 1.95 (21rst among centers). Ahead of Mozgov, Pachulia, Howard, Marc Gasol

(remember, this is the stat that shows Rudy as top defender in the league and consistently places the Kanters of the world at the bottom)

The gap from Jokic down to Poeltl is about the same as the gap between Capella and Jokic

If Jokic were a defensive liability, there is no way his DRPM would be this high

If Poltl was a good defender, there is no way his DRPM would be this terrible.

Defensive +/-
.....Poeltl = 1.4
.....Jokic = 2.1

The eye test fans slam Jokic's defense and the crowds repeat the fallacy. Jokic is an average defender.

Other Denver defenders are terrible and Jokic gets blamed. On a lineup with 3 All NBA defenders (Horford, RoCo and LeBron),Jokic will be fine.
