What's new

Looking at the 6 teams the jazz have played so far, just how good are the jazz really?

Happy with the start. New additions Niang and Allen are impressive. GJ, DL.
Should have beaten GSW, but our wonderkid cost us the game. It's an important lesson.
MEM game was the only disappointing performance.

All 6 games were against West sides that competed. Even SAC and DAL.. Win @DAL was remarkable. They played like their lives depended on it. UTA not only beat fatigue and a pesky opponent but also the crazy refs that cost them at least 10 points.

West is bloodbath as predicted. Good news is talented squads like HOU, OKC and MIN are struggling and UTA should take advantage of that.

I want some East too. GSW turned their East tour to experimental plays practice and record attempts.
East bottom 8 teams are hideous. However we don't get to play one of these until NOV29@Brooklyn. What are the odds? Perhaps it's better to face them later in the season when they're actively tanking.

I was very bummed after the Memphis loss, but have been of much better cheer lately. I still think we are #2 in the west.

We've got a strong team again this year, probably better than last year. But to beat the Warriors in a 7 game series? A minor miracle! They just have the smartest team in the league coupled with the best shooters in the league by a mile! We can give them a run for there money, but in the end, GS is by far the superior team in the entire NBA.

warriors will be no porblme this year.
it is extremely hard for a 3peat for a reason. for 2 seasons these guys have played the most games together. so fatigue is gonna set in.

it will be compounded, by the fact that the new rules speed up the game. and that goldenstate might have the best starting 5, but then who else is there. bunch of scrubs and old igadoula and livingston. these players will wear down. unless kerr comes up with some radicla new way of resting players. like shutting the stars down for 15 games at a time. but in the west they might lose home court advantage even for the first round. not to mention every team brings their a game against them

I think it’s safe to say that the second half of last season wasn’t a fluke. And is basically who we are when fully helpful. That is good to know.

I still don’t know the ceiling of the team. It’s easy for me to say it’s super high, but I don’t know how much of that opinion is just because I watch them all the time and really like and ‘beleive’ in all the players.

I think to be legit contentenders with our defense we need about a top 8 (top 5 would be better) offense. Sometimes I watch us and think we can do it no problem. And sometimes we turn it over on about 15 straight possessions against the Mavs.

Lots of people scoffed at me predicting they’d be a playoff team. They have a good mix of vet allstar caliber players in Conley Gasol and and Jackson looks like a future stud, a stretch 4 that plays defense. This isn’t the same crappy team we all saw last year

Still not a playoff team. Idiot!

After these first 6 games my thoughts on how good we are hasn't changed. We are very good. Top 5 in the west and possibly as good as 2nd in the west. Not gonna beat a healthy warriors team in the playoffs though. No one will.

The Jazz are a bit better than last year due to incremental improvements. Namely, Jae Crowder is more engaged and confident than last year. Rudy Gobert is stronger and more aggressive at getting above the rim. He wants to prove he's not just a defensive player. Mitchell is more focused and efficient. I think he learned a lot from working out with James Harden and Chris Paul over the summer. Ricky Rubio is more comfortable and in control, making the right read and the right pass far more often than not. Exum seems to be borderline unguardable by other teams' second units. Joe Ingles is more experienced and decisive having the offense run through him.

We're better than last year, and probably we're a top 3 team in the west. To take the next step, the Jazz need to replace Favors with a more versatile two-way athletic forward. The way the floor is spaced now, Favors is really just a 5.

What is impressive is the Jazz are winning on the road. Great teams win on the road. Considering that a few of our top guys have struggled and we are 4-2, I can't complain. I still think we beat NO with Davis, we have owned them for a while. Houston with CP may have been different but Houston is not as good as they were last year. Jazz blew the GS game so the only team to really beat us is Memphis. If the Jazz can be top of the division and #2 or # 3 in the West, I think they have a shot at the WCF.

If Mitchell and Rubio started the first few games better, we'd have beaten Memphis and Golden State. Mitchell was 0-fer in the 4th quarters of both those games.
