Unleash AB

To be fair, we only have one poster from Spain, who’s living in Utah and was here before Rubio, and isn’t making those arguments. We’ve also got a few solid Australian fans with solid contributions. Then we’ve got a punch of people who aren’t fans at all, and seem to have a huge hatred for Donovan, for the only reason that he’s associated with Simmons and to build up Simmons, you’ve gotta tear Donovan down. Or perhaps Donovan coming in and shining is also viewed as a slight to Exum, so that could be a secondary reason.

I believe Luiscar is also from Spain. Burks has always been one of my favorite players and I support the argument for giving him more minutes, especially with how solid he’s been playing lately. At the same time I think that hanging on to Rubio will pay off. Imo some of Royce’s playing time could be given to Burks.

I really enjoy our legitimate posters from outside the US... they are super fun... but we’d have a million troll/stans if AB was from Australia or Spain... those guys ride hard for they dudes.

Life ain’t fair... but don’t let that get in your way. Best revenge is living well.

I guess you are right. I hope this scene doesn't play out with Burks and Favors next season.

AB is the only guard with a legitimate beef about playing time... if he was from Australia or Spain the site would crash with all the BS fire Quin threads.
Yeh true.

But AB is primarily competing with DM for minutes. Exum is competing (and outperforming) with Rubio...

There's a difference. I agree with your general premise though.

Yeah Andy Larsen had a comment in his article about how playing Ricky instead of Dante last night helps us later because it shows faith in Ricky... isn’t the opposite true... shows lack of faith in Dante and AB. Last night I thought you could make the case for either so I’m not complaining about last night specifically... just thought the comment was interesting.

It is strange how the organization’s faith and patience runs really long with some but others have no leash at all.

Is there a case that we are being "professional" by playing Rubio regardless because he is in a contract year. I get that if we bench him it affects his money in the off-season but is that really what we are about?? Playing a guy so he gets paid elsewhere or overpaid here?

I always wonder what Dante would be if Quin had shown 1/10th of the patience has shown with Ricky.

Put these in order of “who will be on the roster a year from now at their market level”

Favs
Ricky
AB

Now put them in order of how you would want to order then if the decision was yours or what you think DL should do.

We'll have to pay overs to keep any of them except probably Rubio.

AB
Favs
Ricky

AB is in a contract year too... hasn’t made as much money. I think Ricky has had a stint of playing well under Snyder that AB hasn’t. So it’s harder to trust. AB is a space cadet at times, but he’s been more disciplined and he’s been performing... sometimes you have to let go. Parker and Ginobili used to drive Pop crazy... he had to get over it.

That’s what I’m worried about with AB.

You know that song “the escape” or better known as “if you like Pina Coladas” someday I wonder if Quin will show up to the bar after answer the personal ad and there will be AB at the table... they will laugh it off... make love all night... and @fishonjazz will watch.

Just looked at lineup data... I’m a Royce guy... he’s murdering us subtly... higher turnovers and foul rate which hurts the defense. Not shooting as many threes and missing at a slightly lower rate. Right now it should be Royce sitting. I still think he’s a 3/4... and will be most successful on both ends of the court as a 4.

Quin just doesnt trust Burks to play in his system.

A broken system, mind you. Running an offense to get open shots for below average 3 point shooters (sans Ingles). Or Gobert lobs where they can just foul him and watch him split his free throws.
Here is the career 3 pt of the players taking the shots:

Rubio: .322
DM: .331
Chowder: .339
Exum: .304
O'Neal: .354

And I'm being kind posting their career average, this season is much lower. The Jazz are in the upper half of 3 pt attempts per game (12th). This is not a winning formula.

That's a good point that I stupidly didn't think of. Mitchell is the main reason for burks lack of minutes. I can live with that I guess. At least it isn't josh ****ing howard

Nah, the system definitely isnt broken.

If the offensive system is generating solid open looks, which it is, then it is not broken. The team is in a synchronised state of poor shooting, with Joe even airballing a wide open look late in the game.

More on the topic at hand, i think AB should cut into Royce’s minutes, and Ex should cut into Ricky’s a bit, if Ex is playing outplaying Ricky.

Coach Bud is the closest thing to Snyder in the NBA... and I dare say he doesn't seem to have near the trust issues or hang ups. Dude has gotten good, fairly consistent production out of the Mike Scotts of the world.

Unleash Burks.

Do you agree its the wrong system then, given our collection of talent. 32 three point attempts a game....that would have led the league 3 years ago.

That's the NBA right now, the 3 is such a weapon that you have to have a system that incorporates the open look 3.

completely agreed. The new rules have neutered him. He needs reassignment. The 4 sounds good.

To flesh out my response to this terrible premise:

What other shot do you want this team taking? Mid-range shots? The Jazz are near the top of the NBA in % of shots in the restricted area. They shoot nearly everything else as 3's. They have one of the best offenses in the NBA in terms of advanced analytics. Everyone on the team is shooting below their career average, it will get better.
