Jazz discussing #3 for #6, #18

Well, I'm about to throw the Jimmer grenade into this thread, but this sounds an awful lot like the Jimmer-maniac's plan to beat out Sacramento to nab Jimmer at 6 while getting something for 3. Me and a couple others said that if the Jazz are really going nuts over Jimmer, they should trade down with Washington so they get Kanter and we get Jimmer.

I'm a fan of Knight, but he won't be there at 6. Knight > Kemba, and I actually feel that Jimmer > Kemba.

I actually would rather take Jan or Kawhi with #6 though.

No, the consensus that I've seen is that this draft is 2 tiers at the top. 1st is Irving, Williams. 2nd is Knight, Kanter. If Knight drops to 6th and we somehow know it, what else does that tell us? Teams would for whatever reason prefer 2 other players ahead of him. Why? I'm sure their reasons are just as good as ours.

You don't ****ing give up a #3 lottery pick for a couple later picks or other trade-down value, that's exactly the same move the Blazers made in the Deron Williams draft. They also thought they were getting comparable talent.

Well Toronto is the only team projected to take a PG between picks 3-6. Cleveland won't take him unless they are able to get a trade in place, so as long as he passes by Toronto then we have him. You just have to gauge who Toronto likes.

Couldn't the Jazz draft Kanter first and then see what position Washington is in to draft Knight and trade from there? That way we at least get Kanter or Knight and the #18 pick.

If the Jazz were stupid enough to add another draft pick, I'd be okay with Tyler Honeycutt at 18.

Yeah, but if they don't draft Knight then we are screwed.

Typical draft scenario - yesterday ESPN reported we are trading into the 2 spot, today we are trading down. One day Sap and Harris are not going anywhere, the next day they are on the market. Jefferson is an anchor of the team and then he is going to be traded. You gotta love having two picks in the lotto and being in the middle of all of this.

Knight will likely go to Toronto at 5 if he's not picked at 4 and traded by the Cavs. This is risky, unless the Jazz also like Vesely.

Of course, but KOC would have to be truly comfortable with Kanter. You say "at least" get Kanter, KOC might say "get stuck" with Kanter.

I don't think there's any way the Jazz take three guaranteed contract (i.e. first round) rookies.

However, as I posted in another thread, if the Jazz do this trade they could presumably then package the #18 pick with the #12 to move up to around #8.
