Jazz discussing #3 for #6, #18

Couldn't the Jazz draft Kanter first and then see what position Washington is in to draft Knight and trade from there? That way we at least get Kanter or Knight and the #18 pick.

Of course, but KOC would have to be truly comfortable with Kanter. You say "at least" get Kanter, KOC might say "get stuck" with Kanter.

I don't think there's any way the Jazz take three guaranteed contract (i.e. first round) rookies.

However, as I posted in another thread, if the Jazz do this trade they could presumably then package the #18 pick with the #12 to move up to around #8.

What could they want at 8 though? Biyombo or JV?

I think its possible to still get knight at 6. Ford thinks that TOR is in love with Jan. If we could get Knight, JV or BB at 12 and Honeycut or Hamilton at 18. Holly crap thats a great haul.

This. There's no reason to do anything before the draft. If everyone wants to trade up and get Kanter and the Jazz aren't sold him, then they still draft him and then they can start making phone calls as they see who's falling where.

I would do this deal in a heartbeat. If we're looking at a PG with the first pick, there's a strong possibility Knight would still be there at 6. If not we still land Walker, or draft Jimmer at 6 and take less heat from the fans and media since we traded down and got another pick. 6, 12, and 18 gives us 3 shots at landing someone decent and that's all you can ask from this years draft.

Thinking about this,I do not believe that 6 and 18 are not enough to move up to three in this draft though. There need s to be a swap of player or a future pick from washington.

Who do you guys think is more tradable before the season begins? Whether it's during the draft or shortly after? Kanter or Knight? I would hope at the 3 pick we wouldn't be stuck with anyone - at least early on.

Agreed it needs to include there 1st 2nd rounder or a future 1st rounder for 2012

If Utah got stuck with Knight or Kanter I really dont think thats much of a problem! Knight adds depth and a future PG. And how many teams would love to have 4 to 5 (including Okur) Bigs that could be starters? And I think if Utah drafts Kanter they have a deal or 2 in place to trade Millsap.

Jazz gave up less then #6 and #18 to get Deron. if i rmember it was #6 and #22 i think?

Once a draft pick is signed, you can't trade him until like December. So by the time you conclude the draft, you know who you're going forward with.

Jazz gave Portland #6, #27, and the following year's first round pick (acquired from the Pistons in Arroyo deal).

I would want a first round pick for next year.

Regardless, thats a TERRIBLE trade on our part, IMO. I'd much rather risk it with Kanter or Knight than 6/12/18. You win in this league with high draft picks.

As has been said before, the last thing this team needs is 3 guaranteed contracts, especially from this draft.
