Can you imagine a front line with Josh Smith and Derrick Favors and maybe Valanciunas.

  • If we traded Al Jefferson and the #3 to Atlanta for Smith.
  • Drafted Valanciunas with the #12.
  • Traded CJ, Ante Tomic and spare parts like Raja for a pick to draft a PG like Iman Shumpert or Reggie Jackson...

Man... We can dream can't we. Josh Smith and Favors could be awesome defensively. Valanciunas could be good defensively. That would be a LONG front line.

Josh Smith isn't better than Jefferson, Sap, or Favors. He isn't that great defensively and incredibly inconsistent on offense.

Ummm... Josh Smith has been 2nd team all NBA defense. When has Big Al ever been mentioned in the same breath for all defense? Why do you even mention Sap or Favors in the discussion. I didn't mention Sap or Favors in a trade for Josh.

He's got a big contract... but I'd do it. In reality, though, it's only one more year than Jefferson's.

Sadly, most everyone who gets on All NBA Defensive teams either get their through reputation, or from steals/blocks stats.

I confess that I did not read carefully enough to see that our pick was included.

Millsap is better than Josh Smith in almost every category except blocks. Why would I trade him or Jefferson and a draft pick for Smith. Smith is overrated plus that makes Favors play center which is stupid.

Seriously think about this for a damn second; A good/playoff team is wanting to trade one of it's (perceived) best players that is in his prime without receiving a trade demand. If that doesn't tell you what you need to know, I'm not sure what will.

Youth. Movement.

Not sure it says youth movement as much a "why the hell did we give Joe Johnson THAT contract again?"

"Youth movement" is what I'm saying about the Jazz. Which is another way of saying "Rebuild." Which is another way of saying "let's not waste time with fundamentally flawed players and/or big contract players in their prime."

The Jazz have a great opportunity to build a team the right way. There's no reason to compromise that with 'tards and chuckers.

Sorry Numberica I miss interpreted you meaning there. I though you were talking about the Hawks going on a youth movement. Plus why would we What Josh Smith. I think Evans can play some 3/4 for us in the future. He has a pretty good jump shot. All he needs is some confidence, Handle, and work on his quickness I posted this video in another thread that shows Evans shooting the ball. Looks pretty good.

I'm really impressed with Favors' form. His elbow stays in and his arm is perpendicular to the rim. You can tell he's still honing his shot as his touch isn't great but I'm very encouraged with his results last season in-game. Him releasing on his way down doesn't concern me too much as I'd rather him try to focus on every other step being correct before releasing first. When he starts shooting more fluently, his release should come at the top of his jump like everyone else.

And I've said it many times before, all Evans needs is reps and confidence. He has got a beautiful shot all the way through.
