What is the Rule on Injury Exemption

The Jazz have Thabo, Bricky, X, Grayson and Bradley out hurt. When will they get some relief from the league to add a player or two?

If a team has 15 players on the roster, and four players miss at least three consecutive games through injury and are then independently assessed as being unable to play for an additional two weeks, a team can add an additional player. So when Ricky misses his third game, if all four players are still out for two more weeks from then, at that point we can sign an extra player. However since only Bradley is expected to be out for longer than two weeks from his actual injury, it's unlikely we will be able to use this provision.

Both Ricky and Thabo are due to be re-assessed in a week, at which point Ricky would've missed 3 games. If their prognosis is bad AND Dante's ankle is worse than expected, and all three are going to be out for two more weeks at least, then they could apply for the exception.

Great explanation, thanks. I just hope we don't need it. The sooner we get them back the better, it felt like we were really starting to gel.
