ESPN Sport Science: Brandon Knight Video

Wait, where's Ahmad Rashad and Summer Sanders and why does NBA Inside Stuff look so different?

There were some interesting things there, I just would like some citations. And some of that was plain silly.

Thats how I feel with every sports science video. They spit a bunch of numbers at you to sound really impressive.

How do they scientifically prove (through every stage of the scientific method, and trying to somehow dodge evidence of correlation) how many back-spins are optimal for making a basket? Wouldn't the RATE that it spins (not the number of times) be the measurement anyway (as the same amount of spins from distances that are twice as far means the ball is spinning twice or half as fast)? How do they prove what arc is most effective? A shooter shoots how they shoot, so if they were to isolate different shots from the same person, they're going to get poor results for anything that is outside of what feels good for them. And comparing different shooters cannot apply. I guess if you chart shots that go in vs shots that don't in mass quantity you might get some kind of result.

My point is exactly what you just said, but in long-form I guess.

As I recall, SS analysis of Ray Allen's shot was very similar to Knight's. I think Allen elevated higher on his jumper however.

If Knight turns into a Ray Allen type shooter with PG skills and plays defense he may end up be a special player.

Agree Numberica, but in fairness, they did say "2 to 2 and half rotations per second."

Ehh. Well, I was shooting from the hip.

Also, while I'm still here, how do his reaction times compare to more "average" people and how do they compare to other prospects? Does answering really easy questions while doing those and only doing it .04 seconds slower mean anything? How does THAT compare to others? That whole portion had absolutely no reference point whatsoever.

And the bandwagon continues....

Now Knight can be compared/does things comparable to Ray Allen?

Can he also block shots like Dwight Howard?

And I'm actually becoming a fan of Knight. A good athletic shooting PG... With better intangibles than Harris... Very smart... Good leader, Not an ******* like Duron. Not bad.

But comparing him to Ray Allen and now Dwade and whatever else....

It's becoming just laughable what this is becoming.

Those comparisons are not rampant, Thriller. I think most people like Knight but are cautiously optimistic.

Basically, a video of fancy drills. What I did like was his quick thinking while keeping his reaction times low. I know you guys are saying that these tests are pointless. However, it does show me that he's able to talk much quicker and easier in a stressful situation than in a regular interview. It gives his voice a bigger dynamic as well. ;)

Wow... relax and take a 'lude. I only said that his shooting mechanics as talked about on Sports Science were very similar to Allen's. Not that he would be the next Ray Allen.

I bet you're a hoot to live with.
