Trump's team has hired at least 17 additional lawyers whose main purpose seems to be to use "executive privilege" to keep as much hidden from the public as possible. I don't believe this will work. It's just hard to imagine a situation in American history where the public deserves to know the full and complete truth more then in this instance. Whatever the Mueller report contains, we the people are going to learn what the facts and conclusions are in that report.

.....it's the best imitation of a Manchurian candidate ever, but, I don't believe it's an act. He is dishonoring himself and betraying his country. And if that doesn't constitute "high crimes and misdemeanors", I don't know what more we need.

101 contacts between his campaign and transition team with Russians, and in all 101 instances, they attempted to hide the fact that those contacts occurred. Boy, when Mueller finally delivers his report what on Earth are we going to do? I hope we act in a way that demonstrates Americans still care about their country and are willing to fight to protect what we have here.

I think he should release it first to news outlets in Mexico,and any free, or underground press in Russia.

And then directly to the BBC, npr, and the hill at the same time.

I've been worrying about this for awhile now. One major problem, as I see it, is Russia is no longer left wing, communist/socialist. After the fall they changed ideology to right wing orthodoxy. Putin has co-opted the conservative agenda. "Give me liberty, or give me death." Is now equated with freedom from the responsibility of alliances. Look at Brexit, (sponsored by the folks the brought you Trump), and 45s rantings about NATO, Japan, and S. Korea. "America first" is cover/code for America on her own. It sounds good to thump the patriotic drum but in reality it is the short cut to weakness, not greatness.

If Mueller reports DT had been in cahoots with Putin, it is going to create a crisis of identity for many people. Those folks who truly believe Trump's messaging are going to have fo be intellectually flexible enough to give up on the dream of a return to glory ala 1955. How is Tom from Topeka going to separate the message from the messenger. If Trump is guilty of high crimes, can his core supporters accept that and embrace reality, or will they reject the report as a leftist conspiracy. The latter seems the easiest path. The bottom line is more divisiveness, chaos, and polarization. Which may be the biggest threat to our country since the civil war. And it is not just the man in the street who will be asked to sacrifice his/ her core beliefs. It will be the conservative leadership of our country too. From Fox, to the think tanks, to congress, to the religious right and beyond; they will all need to come to grips with a treasonous leader they supported. Can they admit they were duped? If not, how does that play out?

Tbh I’m legit scared about what happens when this report is released. Either way.

If his put on trial his millions of his base could rebel.

If he’s not accused of any illegal actions millions of others will rebel.

I just don’t see this ending pretty. We’ve been building up to this point for far, far to long. Im afraid it won’t end with a whimper.

Yeah, great points. The alternative reality created by constant lying, and enhanced by propaganda organs like Hannity/Fox, will have lasting power, I believe.

I happened to catch Bill Maher on Chris Mathews this evening, and he was voicing the same concerns. In his case, he isn't certain Trump would even step down if he lost the 2020 election. Or was impeached and convicted.

Regardless, one has to wonder what 1/3 or the electorate buying into deep state conspiracy theories portends for democracy here. Or how the Republican Party recovers from Trump, or how we escape the chaos you refer to. Or do we go even deeper into darkness, or, as Maher put it this evening, "someplace that isn't America anymore."? Very difficult days ahead. Next immediate battle may be getting the new AG to release much of the Mueller report.

Yeah, we're only at the start of the worst where all this is concerned. I believe we'll do ourselves proud in the long run, but I might be laughing nervously when I say that. I prefer to believe we will rise to the occasion and recognize the need to rise to the occasion. But we're in for a rough ride still, for a spell at least.

Settle down Nancy.

For 1, you know the only people who will be rebelling are the lefties with no jobs. Then the adults with jobs come through, arrest them, spray them with gas, etc, etc. It will all be fine.

Number 2. There is no chance anything happens to Trump. This is going to be a big giant nothing burger. Its all one big stupid conspiracy to just drag his name through the mud all the way to the next election in hopes it will make him lose.
