2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

I think 80% of people on this forum want Ricky to play against Portland. Cause if they lose they can blame Ricky. I think it's only fair for the team who has been on this winning streak should play these next 2 games. Right?
We've matched up really well with Portland in the last couple of games we've played against them, seems like a great time to bring Ricky back into the fold.

Favors gives us a great shot at a great season record, but he won't make that big of a difference against Golden State.

Yes, we need Gobert against Boogie, but we can put Crowder, Thabo and even Ingles on Draymond. Favors on Draymond really doesn't help us on either end of the court. Just allows Draymond to help even more due to Favors' poor perimeter shooting.

Favors is really just a great emergency option for Gobert come playoff time. This summer, it's either keep Favors or go shopping. Can't really have both.

I would say that Favors is more than an emergency option. The emergency option is probably Udoh. Favors can guard Cousins and has done pretty well against him in the past. Also, letting Draymond shoot from the perimeter is actually a good strategy, when the alternative is to let KD, Steph or Klay take those shots. Lets see how the Jazz match up in the remaining games against the Ws.

Saric just seems on the outside of that team. Really, Minnesota needs a guy like Favors so badly. Towns and Favors would be a great fit.

As for Saric, I wonder if a trade exception and a 1st and 2nd interests them if they look to tank. Saric has another year after this one then becomes a restricted free agent.

Towns and Favors is not much better of a fit than Gobert and Favors, as while KAT's spacing ability makes it work offensively a little bit more it's not the best use of KAT's skillset, and KAT is so much worse defensively that I don't think that tandum would actually work.

I think if Exum didn’t go down with an ankle sprain and played good over this stretch, we wouldn’t hear all this “easy schedule” wind blowing out your *** every other post. Instead we’d hear how our resurgence correlated with Quin allowing him on the floor.
I would of said exum has played good against bad teams. As a competitor I would like to see this team whose winning play the next 2 games. If Ricky does play and if the jazz lose. Who will blame Ricky?

Minnesota needs a post defender and they need a strong locker room guy. I think Favors would fit very well there.

Doesn't matter. We ain't sending him there.

Again, I think Boston is the team that needs Favors as much as anyone. He'd start at the 5 and immediately help their defense, rebounding and offensive versatility. His roll game with Kyrie and Hayward could be elite. I just wouldn't send him there.

I don't think Favors is an upgrade over Horford who does a lot of the things you just said.

I think the best fit for Favors right now is in Charlotte with Kemba. He could be an All Star there next year.

Favors would take Baynes minutes and they would play big is what Catchall is saying. They've done it before.

I wouldn’t want to send expiring salary, I would send Exum. That kind of **** is probably what might swing a deal one way or another, but maybe you can sell them on potential.

I believe in the cap space idea again. And if we’re abandoning shopping with the space, then they need to get a player under contract that is of similar quality or better than Harris/Middleton. Gallinari comes to mind as a potential target (since the Clippers are shopping as well and that is substantial room that they could add).

Also, the Bucks are prime for plucking players from. At least as long as they prioritize re-signing either Bledsoe or Lopez.

I completely disagree with the Bucks. They could go to the Finals. They likely believe they could go to the Finals, as they should. They’re not going to screw with their core guys.

I mean picking off in free agency (provided the Jazz have the cap space).

The bucks have cleared space for this summer with the trade they did with Cleveland sending out delladova. They can resign anyone they want now. We are not going to be able to poach their players this summer.

Tobias Harris has been so damned impressive when I've watched him. I think he'd murder it with the help we could give and in our system.

I keep hoping the clips paying more attention to outside free agents and not their own guys will give us the opening we need to steal him. I'd take him over Middleton at this point. Love guys that keep getting better every damn year.

Been a fan since his Detroit days. But it's too good to come true.

1. When is anyone going to acknowledge the absolutely critical importance of Brook Lopez?
2. They don’t have Bird Rights on Lopez and they have to do serious maneuvering to sign him to a market-competitive contract. They also have him for nothing now.
3. Of their pending four free agents (their ENTIRE starting lineup that isn’t Giannis), one of them is restricted.
4. The second they prioritize keeping Bledsoe or Lopez, someone on that team is very vulnerable.

I liked him when I watched him bully Gordon in the post a few times in Orlando. Wanted us to toss a max his way that offseason. Small ball wasn't a thing and he wasn't as proven a shooter.

He seems like a class act as well. I'm going to keep hope alive until the ink is dry with someone else or until we make a big trade using our cap space.

At least for this team, Harris is vastly preferable to Middleton.

I think they let Bledsoe walk... and that will be the key. They are aided by two things:

1- A limited market for bigs and a seemingly good stock of players that teams may prioritize before Lopez. I think if he was offered MLE or something a little better he accepts.
2- The restricted FA of Brogdon and the moratorium. If someone could sneak in with an offer of $20m+ and his caphold went up immediatly then they'd have no time to address Lopez and would have to choose Lopez &Bledsoe or Brogdon. They will have a few days to figure out Lopez/Middleton/Bledso before they have to worry about an offer sheet for Brogdon.

It's worth watching for sure. They have the two big shields with the guys we want though... they can lay down the 5 year deal with Middleton and can match anything on malcolm. May have to replace Lopez, but that doesn't help us. It's a difficult dance, but I think they can do it and only lose Bledsoe.

I would not have said that at the beginning of the year. His individual creation/scoring has improved so much. His shot is money. Impressive young man.
