2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

If we trade for Conley, what if we also trade for Love? We’d be hot next year....... and those contracts could kill us.

Conley's contract expires before DM and Gobert's next contracts. If he does well, Utah may keep him for less, as he doesn't rely on athleticism, and perhaps add another borderline allstar. the luxury of having a rookie as the #1 option...

Love's contract is another story.

I'm team anti-Conley. The contract is hideous and a 6'1" PG won't age well in the NBA. Against a team like GS, we couldn't switch at all. There would be no one who could guard Klay, they would have him put up 30 shots on us.

DM did a good job last time... we'd match up better with GS because now Curry has to defend either DM or Conley.

I don't build my team for one matchup though. The issue for me is we still need to hit on a pick or young piece to go with our core. Giving up the cap space is fine... multiple picks or prospects (exum/Allen) is tough.

Love may have the worst contract in the NBA... I'm not sure why people talk about that one like Cleveland wouldn't have to attach assets to move it.

What if Cleveland attached some “bites at the apple” that we can hit on?

Of course, the ideal scenario would be to go for someone playing the last season of his contract (i.e. Danny Green, Rudy Gay, JJ Redick just to name some of them...), so Jazz can sing him later going over the cap after trying to get another good player via free agency.
Doesnt work that way. You either have to keep the cap hold open for your FA or renounce his rights. You could only sign a good player via free agency and then use remaining cap room or the room exemption for additional players.

I would love to pick up Conley, but we can't overpay for him. The fact that it hasn't been done seems to indicate that they want too much for him. He is an upgrade, but not so much that we should mortgage the future. X is coming along fine, when he can stay on the court. Not sure what to think about the young dukie...haven't seen enough.

Oh, Jazz made an actual offer of Rubio and this years 1st. That seems like a fair deal for both sides. Getting the salary to work might be tricky. We would have to include more players.

From the comments section in that article: Story in Memphis is that we want Rubio, Favors (two expirings), Exum, and a future 1st possibly 2020 or 21 for Conley and fillers.

He is a better defender than Rubio. He also has a 6'6" Wingspan.

I hope klay shoots 30 times when we play them. That means steph and KD are shooting less.

Hell to the ****ing no. Memphis overrating their **** once again. Irony being by way overvaluing they way over pay and still expect a fair deal in that regard.

I keep hearing trade for Conley. He's 6'1. Donovan is 6'2. The jazz would have great size in the backcourt. Sometimes people don't think lol. Can u imagine competing for a title with a tiny backcourt. Open your mind people. Getting Conley the jazz will go backwards.

Did you know Conley was born in Melbourne?

Yeah, I'm to the point we are keeping Favors AND Exum. We can trade for random NBA journeymen with our trade exceptions and use them for filler along with Thabo. Memphis can then have one of Allen or an unprotected 2019 pick. "You all have our number.. . ."
