How does this quote thing work?
You either have the max or you don't. The Jazz don't, either because of Korver or because of Exum depending on how you view it.Cap wise it is close to the same as standing pat. Favors, Mirotic, and Ricky can all come off the books. We could deal Exum for a pick. That is assuming there is someone worth getting.

If you're asking me if I'd rather have another season of one of the greatest shooters to ever touch a basketball for $7.5 mil or a guy that I'm not sure is skilled at playing basketball and cannot stay healthy but he's fast for $~11 mil for two seasons, I choose the former every single time.
But the Jazz don't have a max slot as of this moment.
Pretty normal jazz trade scenarios. They have their ONE guy and ONE price and be damned if there is any kind of secondary target. Just like with Hayward, wait out the one single target and don't deviate at all. Conley for a fixed price or nothing. The jazz fo is obviously very content being a "good" team. Staying "competitive" while never swinging for the fences. So many really good players, who could have absolutely helped us more than a little bit, moved in the last 3 days, and we do jack ****. It's getting old.
I don't really think DL had just one target. I'll bet he's called about a handful of players. But Jazz don't have the capital, thanks to poor drafting and Lindsey refusing to sign free agents with the MLE. Jazz org is cheap. And Dennis believes the player development program is better than any other in the league. So he signs fringe players and hopes Lindsey can turn them into great rotational players. Worked for Ingles, so it should work for everyone.
So Harris is gone. So is Porter. So is Parker. So is Barnes. And Porzingis. Wow. So what’s left... Conley. Lowry. Niko. None of them make us that much stronger. Not if we’re losing a combination of Rubio and Favors or Exum for them. Now I hope we don’t make a move at all until the off season. Unless there’s a serious, out of nowhere blockbuster trade that we don’t know about. Blake Griffin or Beal.
Who do we realistically have a shot at getting in the off season that's better than Conley?
At least he'd want to play for Utah.Kevin Love you know it's true

I think Dante is a much more impactful player in a playoff series vs the top tier teams than Niko is.
We aren't getting any established stars. It's just been the historical trend of this franchise. What we always have done is acquiring guys with high upside either through the draft(Malone, Stockton, AK, Deron, Gobert, Mitchell) or through free agency(Boozer, Okur) and let them develop into the stars we need. Stars don't wanna come here? No problem. Just make your own stars. At this point... no one. Which is too bad. Conley it is. Or Lowry. Still both better than Rubio imo. But what’s disappointing is that the big boys might see the potential in joying Rudy and DM here, but they’d still rather go play somewhere else. Even Conley doesn’t want to be here. And it’s not just the Western Conference excuse. But just imagine KD here. Or Leonard. Or Kay Thomson. I think we reach the finals. And you can’t say that about many teams. We are truly a player away - and it hurts.
