2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

I'm not upset about no deal being made, but I really really do not understand why the **** Memphis didn't move Conley.
Because Chris Wallace is an idiot. Waiting all the way to the deadline for someone to flinch and getting nothing in return. Conley's value will not go up, especially if an injury happens. And we got screwed cause they waited all this long, giving us no time to execute a plan B (we couldn't bc we don't have many assets besides our expirings and 1st, which were on the table for Conley)

I think the Jazz were only going to make the trade unless it would clearly benefit them over the long haul because no way they are going to make a run for the title this year. Only way would've been if they got both Gasol and Conley. Apparently, Conley doesn't want to come here either. So, why trade two good players who want to be here and that the fanbase loves? So, that's it. End of story.
He said today he would be willing to play anywhere.

So no trades.... DL has done a GREAT job as GM. But this is the biggest L he has taken in a long time. Nothing worthwhile is going to be available to us this summer in free agency. This was the time to make a move. Whether it was to improve the team now or punt an opportunity down the road by picking up an asset.

Standing pat and re-signing Favors and Rubio this summer gets us absolutely nowhere. But it seems like that's where we are heading. ****

I'm a big DL fan and defender but 100%, this is a loss. Literally the only ways he's modified the roster have been drafting Allen, cutting Jerebko, and adding Korver. That's not good enough.

Although Conley said he would play anywhere, and that the rumor he didn't want to come here was BS.

this thread is a constant eye-roll right now. People complaining about missed deals, yet not offereing any real scenarios where the Jazz could have/should have gotten a certain player. And the notion that the Jazz didn't talk to every single team is also moronic. Frankly, Conley is a non-all-star getting paid $30 Mil a year and more for 2 more years after this. We dont' need that. We need our third guy to go with Gobert and Mitchell and I do NOT see who that is that's available. I would love a guy like Beal, or Lillard, or whatever, but guess what, they aren't gettable.

I'm also dying laughing about the people saying we are not getting enough for expirings. Who's giving us assets for our expirings?

The Jazz have made trades most of the deadlines lately and in the summer and apparently they're doing nothing. "Not for stars though...just role players." Mmmkay, who is the team that will trade us their stars for our role players or bad late round picks. Take a break and go outside people. The blinders and hate are killing you...

Message board scolds who seek to position themselves as the voice of reason among a collection of fools, particularly on fan message boards, which are intended precisely for the sort of speculation, venting, criticism, exuberance, etc. that in the critic's mind makes them fools, are among the worst. They are right up there with grammar and spelling Nazis who use, for the most part, obvious typos or mistakes bred of hurried typing rather than actual inability to spell or write coherently, as a cheap means to proclaim their superiority.

What a dud of a deadline... Booo us!

I really think DL Hyper focused on Conley... that's fine but you had to know that front office was dumb. Guys we were rumored to like moved for fair prices... we continued down the path.

Favs deal was supposed to be trade bait and a look to see if his shot had developed... it didn't develop and we didn't use the contract. Last offseason there were opportunities to make long term moves to improve the the team... we passed to keep Favs and Exum in house. Now the deadline moves with no real change... most FA targets are likely to be out of reach...
I think the value of the guys not named Conley didntbl sway him enough.

I'm excited to see what the modern day Jazz can do in free agency. They might crash and burn, but its a good litmus test.

If all else fails, I'm sure they can revisit Conley talks at draft time.

The Jazz kept all their players.....

This is only disapointment and I will move on.

If we just bring back Favors and Rubio this summer, that's when I start worrying about our ability to keep Mitchell and Gobert long term.
