What's new

Royce is our stretch 4.

I'm still holding out for Tobias Harris. :p
Sounds like Philly wants to keep him. And he sounded pretty excited about being there.

I think the target will be a wing. There's no reason Utah cant start the game with Gobert, Ingles, Mitchell at PG, Crowder or O'Neale at the 4 and a good SG. Probably will bring Favors back and then use the MLE if no wings bite.

A lot can happen between now and FA...I hope Jimmy does something to make Tobias not want to be there anymore, lol.

^I think Butler leaves. He hasnt integrated too well with Embiid and wants to be the focal point of the offense.

I been on this corner for a while... surprised we are now just getting a look at it... it makes a ton of sense. Even if we got an upgrade... Royce could take that Jae role.

Royce/Jae/Niang gives us enough at stretch/small ball 4. Get an upgrade if you can... if not go get wing/guard help... just say no to Love.

I agree. I think Philly is going to come out pretty well on this whole deal. Butler would have demanded a full Bird Right max ($35.6 million). Even with him signing that, Philly could have had a bunch of cap space available.

I think Tobias won't take a full Bird Rights max. I think he will end up signing a little bit less than a Bird Right's max (something around $33 which is slightly higher than anyone else can give). $2.6 million isn't a ton of money, but Philly could let Butler go and still pursue a big 4th player.

Max starts the same for all... bird rights and outside acquirers... it’s the annual raises that change (4% to 8%) which can be significant. Harris will get maxed by an outside team... I’d even offer a 3+1 with a player option. So I doubt philly gets away with less than 4 year max with 8% raises... they may add a 5th year and get a lower year to year raise... long story short... whoever they pick they will pay full ticket. Harris will have 3-4 teams willing to max him at midnight unless he has a catastrophic injury.

I see Royce as the replacement to Ingles in the starting lineup. I love Joe, and I think he'd be absolutely perfect in a Ginobili type role for this team long-term.

Philly is stupid if they don't offer Tobias a full bird rights max. I think that's going to be a huge risk for them.

Damn I'm having a bad day. You're right. I read it wrong.

The first year will be $32.7 million either way but the 8% vs the 5% raise.

I just have a feeling that the Sixers keep Harris, let Butler and then add somebody else pretty big. Somebody like Jrue.

No worries man... this **** is so complex... you are generally pretty spot on, so please know there is no condescending tones there... I screw stuff up on the cba regularly.

I agree... I think they cut corners on Jimmy if necessary. They don’t offer Tobias full max he will have a line of teams ready to take care of it.

Jazz need to take an extended look at Royce as the 4... hope Favs minutes at the 4 are widdled down. I hope we also run DM at point more... I just think a starting group of:

DM
Ingles
Royce or FA addition at SF (say we land Danny Green, Bogdonovic)
Royce or FA addition at PF (Say we land Tobias Harris, Niko, Rudy Gay)
Rudy

or if we strike out in FA:

DM
Exum
Ingles
Royce
Rudy

I don't think we need a huge FA addition if Royce and Jae are good enough at the 4. Can add super solid bench pieces that may have some trade or asset value if our big game hunting goes badly (it likely does). Add a solid more traditional point guard for the bench (collison, lin, Beverly, Joseph). Then you pray you hit on a pick or an all star pops up on the trade market at a cheap price (like Paul George, Kawhi, Jimmy Butler) have.

I'm honestly glad we missed on Conley... Would have liked to get Niko/Barnes/Porter in though.

U better hope Royce continues to keep shooting the 3 ball. Royce is going to be an all star. But the 2nd team is better but switch Dante to pg and Donovan to sg

Royce has a few good games and suddenly he's replacing Ingles in the starting lineup?

Royce can be our Draymond
