What's new

Grayson Allen

I was looking at Bradley's GLeague stats. No 3 point shots and shooting sub 50% from the foul line. Willie Reed kicked sand in Bradley's face.

Ya, a total waste of a pick. Should've been cut, and another player who can actually help should've been picked up (like Ellington).

Thabo and Grayson have played almost the exact same minutes this year. When they do play, they play almost the exact same minutes per game. Thabo makes 3x as much as Grayson and has 10+ years of NBA experience.

Why do we spend so much time complaining about guys who don't really matter?

Grayson wasn't expected to do anything this year. We haven't made any decision yet which requires him to play a prominent role.

He wasn't good at duke. He's undersized, and he's never consistently displayed in game athleticism. Was a always an inconsistent shooter. Because of these things, he came in with the deck stacked against him. The jazz basically drafted tony Bradley two years in a row. If he ever becomes a rotation player in the league, it will be a surprise.

What nba skill or skills does Allen possess?
Basketball IQ, decent handles, the ability to get into the paint, shooting(college), athleticism.

He was the 21st pick. The chances of him becoming a major piece are extremely slim. The chances of him improving and becoming a role bench player are semi high People need the have a little patience. Put him on a team that can afford him to struggle and I bet he has a much better season.

People must be too young to remember how Sloan handled rookies.

So you’re using Sloan’s handling of rookies as reason to have patience with Allen or attack Sloan for neglecting to use correctly rookies? Please clarify.

Who claimed disappointment in him not being a “major piece?”

You seem to have some conflicting arguments here. On one hand you claim he’s the 21st pick and expectations should be kept low yet claim if he were given more time/play for a bad team that he’d have a bigger role and theoretically be better.

The reasonable comparison for this guy would be Trey Lyles. A theoretically good player who does not do one thing at NBA level.

Not conflicting at all. Utah can't afford to let him play through rookie mistakes while other teams could. With more playing time comes more development. If he played for Phoenix they would have nothing to lose by playing him. He would get more minutes and in return learn small nuances of the NBA game that he's not afforded to do with our playoff roster.

As for Sloan, a little but of both. I think some players should have played more but at the same time he had good reason not to play certain guys.
