Time to trade millsap

Ideally Memo should be the first to go in a trade, even before Millsap. But that wont happen. We need to pay him 10mil/yr afterall for mentoring Kanter.
It is funny how time and again one bad contract is all that it takes to ground the Jazz. Ostertag, Klinko and now Memo.Yet the Jazz will stick to their contracts like glue and let it play out in a misguided sense of loyalty.

West is a little overrated. I won't take OKC seriously as long as Durant is strictly a perimeter player. LA is dying. Memphis will suck once they lose Gasol, which they will. Dallas is not a dynasty in the making. This conference also just lost two huge stars in DWill and Amare. There is great talent in really bad franchises. The Clippers and Kings are not likely to be able to maximize what they have.

Nice to be able to agree with Sep for once.

Strictly a perimeter player? Durant led the league in free throw attempts. I doubt those were from having been fouled on three point shots.

In the same sense that LeBron is a perimeter player. Bron gets a lot of FT too but he isn't a guy you just throw the ball to in the high post. Which is good because if he had that game they would have won.

You have your opinions and they are slightly different from mine. But my main point is, if we are rebuilding a new team, which is set around the core of Hayward, Favors , Kanter and Burks, i would like to give these guys major mins as soon as possible. I think we can get to the playoffs with starting guys like big al, harris or whatever but it will not bring us anywhere to get to playoffs this year. I just dont see jefferson in future plans of this team because he is not a guy to accept being a bench player.
So i would prefer to dedicate this year to the growth of this young core instead of starting the currently best player. Of course Kanter wont just come to the court and dominate everyone else, but he will be a better player next year if he gets major mins this year. Same with Favors. I just want to increase the growth process speed so that we can be a contender in 2-3 yrs.

Jefferson has some good offensive skills but he isnt a versatile player. And i believe he will never be a player to carry a playoff team on his shoulders. So better to trade him while we can get some value in return. I dont necessarily say right away, but maybe in mid season period.

I said the same things about Zach randolph until he went beast mode in the playoffs!!

your clearly a Kanter homer so of course you dont like BIG AL but he the best low post threat we have and will be for years to come Ill be happy if Favors develops half the post moves BIG AL has.

I would only be okay trading Millsap if Okur is coming back healthy. Otherwise, all of our bigs would need the ball in the low post to be effective and we would have some stagnation in the middle. Millsap is able to hit the 15-18 foot jumper reliably, so he provides better spacing. I don't know if Kanter would be able to do that, and I know that Favors is limited outside of 12 ft. We would have to get a perimeter shooter to trade Millsap, otherwise we will continue to have poor spacing, allowing teams to sit back in the paint on defense.

Everybody is looking for a bargain. You trade Millsap only if the return is too good to pass up.

And that would have to be really good.

Zach randolph has a prettty good jump shoot, thats a big difference maker with Big al, especially in playoffs. We didnt see Big al play yet in playoffs, but i doubt he can put performance as good as randolph did this year. Favors has different attributes, we cant expect him to be like big al, I just dont see any reason for us to keep big al more than a year while we have Kanter and Favors. It is not worth to overpay him
