This brings back memories to our tanking year and how sometimes it seems really hard to be able to lose a game.

This. Portland needs to get out of the first round with CJ and Dame at some point. Unfortunately for them, I'm just not seeing it for them against Utah either. I think we'd take them out in six.
 
Frankly, I suspect Portland is just genuinely trying to rest their top players.

In other words, they may not care as much if they play OKC or Utah, but they do want Dame and CJ to be rested for whoever they do play.

So I suspect they rest those two, then try to win tonight with who they've got.

Nah... you don't play a whole season to be indifferent on your playoff opponent and bracket placement. CJ makes sense as he is coming off an injury... but both guys? Nah.
 
1They badly need to win a playoff series in order to sell progress. If they lose to GS nobody complains.
2They may be terrorized by OKC: Westbrook, PG13, Adams, etc. 0-4 this season. Deep and healthy.
3They probably see Utah as an easier opponent: Lillard can dominate us, Don is still a sophomore, Gobert is limited offensively, the roster looks pretty injured, etc. (according to them. Boy, are they wrong).

Make it happen!! Chip on our shoulder if they choose us.
 
A bit surprised that POR would do that. Still concerned that SAC will either ball out to send a message or die with a whimper.

Either way, it’s the playoffs. You are going to have to face the elite at some point or another and there’s no bonuses or extra draft picks for getting through another round.

I don't think there is a chance for an accidental win. Either their coach wants the Jazz and will do whatever it takes to lose (even literally telling his players), or he wants OKC and will play the best available the entire game. Their best available can perfectly beat the Kings.

For instance, Nuggets @ Blazers: Jokic, Millsap, and Murray? rested. Starters were beating the Blazers late in the game, so their coach just sat them all and sent out the end of the bench. Mission accomplished.
 
i guess portland would rather face the jazz than okc? Understandable since they got swept by the thunder, but the odd thing ks why would they rather face the warriors than the rockets/nuggets. Only explanation I have is that they are worried about their center situation with Kanter whose an absolute ******** on defense, hed get harden switched and destroyed.

I don't understand how he is officiated. It's one of the NBA mysteries I can't solve.
