What's new

Non jazz 2019 playoff discussion.

After watching a lot of basketball these past two days, I think we might be one of the least talented teams out there. Portland is looking real good. They have the pacific northwest’s splash bros and Harkness is a stud.

Why didn’t we go after Seth Curry? He’s yet another great shooter that we could’ve signed last summer, right?

We really need to get longer, faster, and better shooting. Like right now. Because seeing what Portland is doing to OKC is impressive. I don’t think we could beat them right now. Not with Dame, CJ, and that ruthless supporting cast.

I was checking in on the former Jazzmen on Poresland when I realized the Jazz once traded multiple picks to get Trey Burke instead of drafting McCollum.

Sometimes I think they should rename the Jazz the Blues for how painful it is to be a fan.

Fans always give dennis credit for hitting home runs on Gobert and Mitchell. But what about the whiffs? What a major whiff. CJ and Dame are outplaying Russell and Paul.

Westbrook always has a look on his face that his girl just cheated on him.

By far the thing i hate most about him is that he never seems happy. He makes millions playing basketball. Maybe smile sometimes.

We need to upgrade Rubio, Royce, and Thabo. All of them are decent players, but they simply arent good enough to compete with the elite.

I mean, if we are going to play that game, Glannis was right there. . .

Agreed.

I like our roster. They seem like good dudes. But we have starters who would be bench players on most playoff teams. We have bench players playing key roles who wouldn’t even be playing on most playoff teams.

Seeing Toronto, Boston, Milwaukee, Philly, Denver, Houston, golden state, and Portland all play recently, it’s apparent that we are slower at most positions and really lack shooting. The shooting on display I’ve seen from golden state, Houston, Toronto, Portland, and even Denver (last night) was impressive.

If we were playing Portland, I cringe thinking what Aminu and Harkness would be doing to Mitchell. Both are elite defenders. Dame wouldn’t even have to defend Rubio so he could help defend Mitchell too. Getting Mitchell some offensive help should be priority #1 this offseason.

Having Mike Conley right now sure would be nice...

He is the weakest link. Whenever Aminu or Harkness go out, Hood goes in... and it always shows... they are noticeably slower and worse on defense and defense. It’s quite funny actually.
It's bad when a player makes a team worse on both defense AND defense.

If OKC gets swept or out in 5, what do they do? If OKC can't be a home seed or win a playoff series in two seasons with healthy Russ, PG and Adams, when do you pull the plug?

How bizarre would it be if OKC traded Russ and PG to the Lakers for Ball, Ingram, Hart, Kuzma, Bonga, Wagner and like 5 unprotected 1st round picks?

No one has a crystal ball, dude. Every team, every year pass on incredible talent. It's a crap shoot. Dennis isn't some kind all knowing person.

The sheer fact that he plucked Gobert out of obscurity and got DM, he should be given an award.

We've played ONE game. Slow your roll. Keep a wrinkle in it.

Yep. Hood sucks. Couldn’t even crack Cleveland’s rotation.

Harkness and Aminu are good. That 1-4 lineup of Dame, CJ, Aminu, and Harkness is pretty sick. It’s your ideal 1-4 lineup in today’s NBA that depends on speed, shooting, and spacing. All they lack is a long and quick defensive center (like Rudy) and they’d have a perfect starting 5.

I do think in some ways the Jazz match up better against Portland than OKC. Gobert and Favors could help defend the rim much better than Adams and they’d be a much better lob threat too. Matchups are everything.
