Game 3 tactics.

I'd like to be optimistic but we are just over matched by the Rockets. They have shooters who can't be stopped or covered no matter what we do. I see no scenario in which the Rockets shoot a low enough percentage where we can outscore them. We have no defensive scheme in which we can keep them from shooting lights out from 3 point range. They are in the same category as GS which means there hasn't been a defense invented that can keep them from outscoring us big time. I have no answers, do you?
 
Jerry Sloan once comment on how good Jeff hornacek was at defending , in his latter years , basically playing on one leg

“He is able to stay in front of his man “

With that quote , I think that would be a good start for game 3

How come Favors isn’t getting more minutes? He has the best PER on the team. Seems to me we’d ride Favors a little more and not by having him stand in the corner and shoot 3’s.

I hate all the 3’s we take. Yeah, we get open looks, but we repeatedly clank open looks. To be a 3 point shooting team, seems like you’d have to have the personnel, and I’m not sure the Jazz fit the criteria.
 
From what I understand the reason we are employing the embarrassing gimmick defense is because we are scared of harden shooting threes and stepback threes in particular.
Why are we so afraid of that again? Harden shot 36.8% from three this year. That's ok but nothing to freak out about. I'm fine with him taking and making threes at a 36/37 percent clip. That's what he shoots against defenses that play him straight up.
Against the jazz and their gimmick defense in the playoffs harden is shooting 44% from three.

The rockets as a team shot 36% from 3 in the regular season.
Against the jazz gimmick playoff defense they are shooting 39% from three.

Doesn't seem to be working.

Quin has **** the bed in this matchup. I think it's obvious the players aren't buying what he's selling.
