Game 3 tactics.

So i wish that stat had more context.
I'm guessing that the rockets are giving Rubio, favors, Crowder, etc good open looks which brings that expected efg up. But the rockets want to those dudes to shoot expecting the three efg of those guys even on open looks will be poor.

Play the same D we played in the games we beat the Rockets in the regular season and don't start thinking for god's sake.

I think that's exactly right - they'll gladly give Rubio an open 3 so they can lock down Korver.

Jeff Bzdelik is the best defensive mind in the game. These numbers aren't flukes.

I think it is saying that if you take the shots we got and applied our shooting averages to them that is what we should have shot in that game. Meaning we are getting the looks we want but not making them. Rubio, Favors, and Crowder getting open shots would probably not bring that efg up. It would be their averages on those shots. Jae shoots 35% from 3 on wide open shots so that is his expected percentage on that shot.

I think UTA will get better... if any, 'cause will be difficult do it worse.
Despite what we saw, I still trust the rear-defense SociopathEyes and the Blurred Lines designed in the shadows.

I am a man of Faith.

Tell Mitchell to drive to the basket.

If Crowder keeps clanking when playing PF put Ekpe in.

Let Niang shoots more threes.

We need athletic players who can attack the basket. Plain and simple.

Our shooting isn't great, but I think what's being exposed here is our lack of athleticism driving to the hoop. Even playing Grayson more might help.

Don't let Favors and Rubio shoot unless they are within 10 feet of the basket. If they get the open 3, tell them to drive to the hoop immediately and either look to score or kick to the open man on the perimeter. Tell Crowder to only shoot the 3 if he is open and has time to set himself, none of those forced threes. Tell Donovan to continually attack the basket and stop taking forced threes. With the continual attack of the basket, keep Jingles, Korver, and Niang on the perimeter ready to catch and shoot the 3. On defense, try to trap Harden but also don't let them get open for 3 in the corner. Keep Rudy back to protect the rim and prevent the lob. Maybe this is being unrealistic, after all I am not a coach.

I really think this might work in game 3 with Houston, use Grayson Allen to guard Harden. Grayson is quick and a good defender. He is not afraid to guard a star like Harden. Houston is going for a title, and Jazz is not, we need to play hard defense and be aggressive. Nothing to lose. If Grayson gets into foul problem that is fine, but we need to create enough difficulty for Harden. Grayson Allen can be another Dante Exum for us. Dante did an excellent job guarding Harden last year, Grayson Allen could do the same.
