Following Potential Draftees - 2019 (not kidding)

@PointBreak: I think the Jazz would have to trade up to around 15 or 16 to have a chance at NAW. I just can't see him getting past both the Spurs and the Celtics.

Watching Utah this year, it's a very different team when their making their shots and when their missing them... which means obviously it'd be better if they could just make more shots every game... Brandon Clarke is a damn good candidate to help Utah immediately improve in this area. He can obviously add soemthign to the team, to the playoff push, right away.


Also; who is anyone, at this point, to question these bigmen Gonzaga and Mark Few is pumping out??? after all this sustained excellence? Not me... I learned my lesson.. Always been a big Gonzaga/Few fan, they know what their doing.. Next year is gonna be fireworks too.. They are a factory.






I think Rudy would love having him around too.. Could be like a major brownie points type of deal with that, and it sounds dumb, but as you all know it's really all-performance based, so if he can back it up, it'll be true... This is ofc what their looking for in this draft,, you dont appease Hayward for years and then leave Rudy out to dry...

Well he doesn't have NBA 3 point range that's obviously how you say otherwise. DM often got swarmed by cheating defenders when he got into the lane, Clarke, at least initially, won't be able to alleviate that.
His motor is off the charts though. Over 3 blocks for an 8'6" standing reach player has to be a record or damn well near it. Nice spin move, but will be heavily scouted in the NBA.

Brandon Clarke is kind of like Aaron Gordon at Arizona, except 3 years older and without the ball skills. If you draft him, you're betting on some significant development and evolution. Otherwise, he's mostly an energy player--potentially a great energy player, but still just a defender/rebounder who can run out.

I like him but there are certainly issues. He’s the hipster favorite of this years draft. Other than his obvious defensive abilities the thing that intrigues me is the on/off numbers... led the nation in offensive and defensive rating, win shares, win shares per 40 minutes, and was second to Zion in box plus minus... so clearly he’s doing some good things out there.

Aaron Gordon is a good defender but I think Clarke will be a great defender. Is Thad Young a good comp... Paul millsap pre-jumpshot. I think he has a high floor but may be one of those guys you always say “man he’d be so good if he could shoot”

At #23 I’d be super happy with him... I don’t know that I’d move up to get him unless the price was low.

Well, Dennis Rodman was a real factor in his day, but he was an outlier and it was a different game then, one that allowed a lot of pushing and jostling. Obviously, Andre Roberson is a difference maker.

I think he could do some Draymond stuff on defense. Switchy, nimble, with rim protection... not sure he has the BBIQ of Green, but dude is doing something right out there. If I had a big board I'm guessing he'd be top ten.
 
The Jazz should play it exactly like Portland did last year. Take a HIGH upside guy at #23 and then trade (two future 2nd round picks and cash) to move up into the top 40 for another one. Guarantee the 2nd round pick for 3 years and focus on developing them as much as possible. Hope they blow up and become stars down the road.
