What's new

Following Potential Draftees - 2019 (not kidding)

That’s because your favorite things are unknown assets and having enough cap space to endlessly speculate on things that could be. Real time results and production always takes a backseat for you.

That's garbage and you should know it. I always provide my plans and contingency plans.

I've been on record saying this before, but I'll say it again - I would rather have Rozier at $20 million (which I know is an overpay) AND our 2019 1st AND whoever we have to add on in addition to our draft pick(s) AND the salary money difference between the two than Mike Conley at $70 million over the next two years.

I could provide you with 15-20 ways I would rather use our cap space than sink it all into Conley. And, oh yeah, losing yet another 1st round pick on a PG on a short term deal.

Preferring to spend $20 million so that Rozier can go full Rubio without any of the passing skills. And keeping our pick to get Grayson Allen 2.0 in a weak draft instead of getting a star guard who could elevate every player in our offense. But it’s true, we would have slightly more cap flexibility. Another Jerebko would really get us where we need to be.

I think you’ve proven my point.

Conley isn’t the only, or my favorite offseason acquisition possibility. But my god, Rozier and the 23rd pick is your preference?? $20 million???

I would rather have Rozier, Exum, #23, and cap space than Mike Conley.

Cry about it. I don't care. Mike Conley is a knee jerk reaction to stay in the middle. When Conley leaves in 2 years after compromising all our cap space for 2019 AND 2020, everybody will be complaining about missing out on the Schofield, Reid, Edwards, Samanic, whoever we could have drafted at #23.

There are 10 or 15 things I would rather have happen than getting Rozier with our cap space. However, I would take it over trading assets and probably twice as much cap space for Mike (doesn't even want to be in Utah) Conley.

Jazz can have 30+ million in cap after signing Gobert and Mitchell in 2021 if they get Conley. Calm your *** down

Yes, adding a top 10 PG is about staying in the middle vs keeping the 23rd pick which has about a 1% chance of ever being as good (and that's as eventually, not right away) Mike Conley.

You got to stop with acting like anyone who thinks your ideas are dumb are people who just want to "be in the middle", especially when your ideas involve the Jazz getting not good players or late 1st rounders

That's why I said 2019 (this summer) and 2020 (next summer). I never said anything about 2021.

I hate the idea of putting all our cap space AND at least 1 1st rounder into a guy who clearly doesn't take us to the next level. Subtracting Rubio (renouncing) and Favors (renouncing) for Conley is pretty aggressive already. Throwing in draft picks is where I'm just a firm no.

Jazz's workout on Tues. with Paschall and Terence Davis might have Lu Dort in it as well. Jazz are planning another workout on Thursday that includes a dude named Frankie Ferrari from Univ. of San Francisco. Wonder if he might have mob connections...

Talen Horton-Tucker did a workout this week with OKC that included Daniel Gafford and Jalen McDaniels. That's the first private workout I've heard THT has done.

Bruno Fernando has been working out for several mid 1st-rd teams. He might help push someone down to our neighborhood.

Top 10? He's better than these guys for our Utah Jazz?

Westbrook
Steph
Doncic
Paul
Lillard
Kyrie
Kemba
Jrue
Simmons
Trae
Fox
There are also arguments to be had for Lowry, Russell, Dragic, and Murray.

I would rather pick up a top 15-25 type PG, keep our pick and have money left to spend than pay Conley $70 million the next two years to be a top 11-15 type PG.
