Spencer Dinwiddie?

What about Spencer Dinwiddie as possible PG target via trade? If the Nets in fact sign both DeAngelo Russell AND Kyrie Irving, Dinwiddie might prove to be an unnecessary asset. He is a 6'6" PG averaging nearly 17ppg in just 28min and is on a very friendly 3-year, $34m deal. His skill and size could be perfect alongside DM#45. The Suns were rumored to be interested, but likely won't trade the #6 pick for him. I wonder if two first rounders (2019 and a future pick) from Utah would be enough to get it done. Don't think this is a deal that would happen before the draft since the Nets would want to have Kyrie AND Russell locked first, but I think he would be a solid and unique starting PG for Utah.

May as well just keep Rubio. Dinwiddie shot 40%/32%. You'll replicate the same problems: no respect for outside shooting from the PG position. I still maintain the better solution may be to let Donovan play the 1; he handles the ball most of the time on offense anyway. And when he doesn't, Ingles is a fantastic play maker. Get bigger at the other guard position. Outside of Conley, who is getting old and is very expensive, I don't see many other PG options out there that move the needle. Kemba ain't coming to Utah. And neither is Kyrie.

As much as I've wanted Dennis to ACT, he's almost boxed himself into a Harris or Bust corner. Blew a ton of assets chasing PG after PG. Had the opportunity to get Mirotic and settled for a lousy draft pick and taking Allen instead. Went after NOBODY in free agency, signing Niang to save the franchise several million in coin. Had expirings to deal and whiffed at the deadline with no Plan B if Memphis balked at trading Conley. Lindsey has the tightest *** in the business. You could turn coal into diamonds between those cheeks before he'd willingly add payroll.

Get ready for bringing back essentially the same team. A draft pick will replace Thabo. Some "value" (as in CHEAP) PG will take Rubio's place. And Herpes likely takes Udoh's place. Lindsey is incapable of admitting mistakes. So he'll continue to stand by his man, Dante. And he can't ever admit SA pulled one over on him. So Bradley will have a roster spot until the day Lindsey is put out to pasture.

Jockstrap, Get ready for
Conley. Or Love if all else fails. I’m looking fed to your meltdowns
Meh. At least Conley would be SOMETHING. But after all Dennis' posturing, if he now flinches and gives up Favors AND Dante, we should all melt down, because that was the deal he wouldn't budge on at the deadline. I just don't see Dennis trading Dante. But you never know. Maybe that was part of him getting bumped up; Lindsey was great at kicking the tires, but would just never commit. Even his great signing of JJ was attributed to Joe's agent initiating the contact. Well, I guess Fat Boris may have been his doing. Or was that just helping out old friends?

I know, I should change my name to "DennisBeGone." But that's not original.

Nets would be silly to trade Dinwiddie and his awesome contract unless someone royally overpays.

If we could pickup Harris to go with Dinwiddie then that would be great. If that is our only change then he is a bad fit. But he is a really good player and an upgrade over Rubio. But he also does not stretch the floor but is a far superior defender and finisher over Rubio. Russell is a better fit and more likely to become available though.

Dinwiddie ... is a far superior defender and finisher over Rubio.

Wow, you really hate Rubio's defense, don't you. I won't pretend I see enough of Dinwiddie to evaluate on the eye test (or that I'm that good at the eye test, in any case). But Rubio came in 12th in Defensive Real Plus-Minus this year out of 102 PGs. Dinwiddie was 98th, a worse relative positional ranking than Jabari Parker (D. Russell was 52nd, btw). I know DRPM is far from perfect, but it's hard for me to trust your eye test when the gap is that large.

It also says that Boogie is a better defender than Giannis. Those rankings are all over the place. Rubio played next to Gobert for most of his minutes that is why he is ranked higher.

Even though I sometimes use them, defensive stats for individuals tend to be terrible.

Rubio was unable to stay in front of anyone this year. But he did have the best defender in the league to clean up for him. When Gobert was not on the court he has Favors who actually ranked higher at rim protection this year.

Holly batman moron. And you call yourself a jazz fan? Snyder's defensive plan was to funnel the opponent to Gobert at the rim for years. It must be tough to watch games and have no clue about what's going on the court beyond following the box score.

Yes, but that doesn't mean letting players go by with no resistance. Like the rest of team does, you are supposed to try to guard your player. Rubio let's players go where they want. He doesn't direct them anywhere or resist. He did okay the previous season but it fell apart this year.

Pretty funny you think you are supposed to just move to one side and let them go to Gobert though. That's good basketball. The only time we have done something like that is against harden. But even then Rubio is one that failed to correctly position himself.

Does anybody have full-season data on Rubio's defense? I want to see a handful of different measurements before I just start flinging poo at everybody who's making strong statements one way or the other about it.

My eyeballs did see a regression in Rubio's on-ball defense, but I'm also too exhausted by the BLAME EVERYTHING ON RUBIO crowd to really lean-in to my eyeball's suggestion.

Oh yeah and Snyder watched that **** from the sidelines and allowed it to happen all season long? LOL. Between you and Quinn I know who the basketball clueless dummy is. Lay off the haterade. It's bad for your brain cells.

And the underlined part is pretty much how funneling works. Thanks for confirming your clueless-ness.

I'd say Rubio regressed overall relative to his career (he's #1 or #2 in DRPM among PGs since the stat was invented). But to call a putrid defender like Dinwiddie a far superior defender is blind hate.

That's why he is coming back?

Quinn had no choice to play him. He had no better option.

Sorry I don't like your hometown hero. Neither do the Jazz. Maybe as a backup he could work here.

Lol at understanding of our defense. Snyder must have been pissed when Royce and Ingles guarded their guys and tried not to let them get past them.
