Woj bomb... AD to Lakers

The Lakers reported to have traded 3 potential unprotected picks and 2 more pick swaps. Yikes. Lakers are screwed in 2 years.
I really want to see Justin Zantac finally make a damn move for the Jazz, deals are going to be crazy this summer.

Wow! Those future picks make this a huge victory by the Pelicans. They will be big trade players for several years with the assets. I take back my earlier criticism of the Pelicans for this trade. Although, I don't trust their ability to draft the right player unless the Commissioner gifts them another #1 pick.

This is how the Lakers get to operate, trading their 1st rounders like candy since they know big names will always flock to them. Followed by veteran ring chasers to fill out their roster. More reason to hate the Lakers.

They’ve been *** for a while and their management may have just bet the farm on old man LBJ and injury prone AD. These types of trades have so much downside even for the Lakers... everyone assumes they will be good but sometimes they ain’t... wooof... NO did pretty damn well... I think they used Kuzma as an excuse to extort immense draft capital... “oh you won’t give Kuzma... then we need a couple picks... and a couple meaningless swaps that will never convey”

Lakers will always exist in an ecosystem where they will draw top free agents regardless of their suckitude. As such, picks are meaningless to them whereas small markets like NOP cover them.

Outside of LeBron they haven’t had much luck... they just used the guys they’ve picked and those meaningless picks to get their superstar... I get it... they could be very good... but those picks are way the hell out there and if it’s so easy for LA to get these FAs I doubt they would have sucked the last 7-8 years.

I’m going to say this turns out poorly for LA.

I had to look, and a few things surprise me. Davis has played in 80% possible games, I thought it would be much lower as he seems to be forever injured. Davis is just 26-yrs old and has been an all-star every year except his rookie season. He has been to the playoffs twice, only 13 games, but he average 30 pts and 13 rebounds in the playoffs.

Pels should have asked for Kuzma instead of Ball.
most likely they are going trade Ball to Sun's or Bulls. Also LBJ teams need shooters and Davis isn't a stretch big man and he hates playing center. So does Lebron. So Kuzma 6th man and Favors starts at center of jus put LeBron at PG. Nuggets still set up better. Lakers basically have a two year maybe three year window. NUgget be just coming into their prime then.

Great trade for NOLA. Great trade for LA.

LeBron, AD and Kuzma. That team needs shooting, but that's still a great core.
Agreed.
I think the pelicans did well

LAL have a sweet gig. They don't care about player baggage, or media hyping dads, or misbehaving players at all. While every other team in the league is scared to death of it. It seems like a rather simple formula for a player to get to LAL, behave like an ***, or announce you are not re-signing and all the other teams back away except LAL. Suits the Association just fine since they like to link the basketball product with Hollywood and nothing is more Hollywood than the LAL.

Can't wait for Kawai to sign there in 14 days.

Between superstars demanding trades to LA and star free agents signing there, it's hard for normal teams to compete.

Yeah it's just the reality of being a small market team. The margin of error is so slim. And by the time you develop an all-star like Hayward, they go right into unrestricted free agency. Lakers were a dumpster fire and signed a top 3 player ever, had a top young talent force his way there, and will be in play for another max free agent. Imagine if they were instead in a small market with that Pelinka/Magic ********. They'd just be what the Suns are right now.

I would trade the 4th pick if I was them, there is a big drop off after Zion & Morant according to projection models.

Sam Vecenie had an interesting hypothetical that is divisive to say the least.

This is complete speculation on my part as opposed to something I’ve heard is a real possibility, but my favorite potential deal out on the market right now is something centered around Lauri Markkanen and the No. 4 pick. With Wendell Carter in Chicago as the team’s center of the future, Markkanen’s place is a bit more precarious despite his terrific production in his first two seasons. His best defensive position in the modern NBA is almost certainly at center next to a rim-protecting 4. That possibility doesn’t really exist in Chicago right now. By using Markkanen, the Bulls could get the high-upside, offensively-creative lead guard they need in Garland.

And in New Orleans, Markkanen is about as strong a fit as you could imagine next to Zion. Offensively, he’d shore up the team’s biggest weakness following this deal: perimeter shooting, giving Williamson more room to operate in the half-court. Markkanen is one of the few centers in the league that you can legit run off of off-ball screens in actions to get clean looks, and that sense of gravity would really help open things up. Then on the other end, competitive, high-end defensive guards in Jrue Holiday and Lonzo Ball would make Markkanen’s life a bit easier on the perimeter. Inside, it’s hard to imagine a scenario that helps him more than putting him next to Zion. In a world where fake trades will abound over the next few days, that’s a really fun one.

I just realized the last of the Lakers picks ( or pick swaps) will convey in 2025, which coincides with the timing of when Zion will be demanding a trade out of town.

Picks arent meaningless. They just had to use years of drafting and future drafting to get the guy they wanted. If the Lakers **** up again, they could be in an even longer down period. Yes, they will always recover faster than other teams, but they have potentially ****ed themselves for the 2nd half of next decade.

Lol lakers got a good swap on players,

Lonzo is so over hyped
Ingram is meh, cant shoot well.
Hart is ok as a defender
