Favors traded to the Pelicans

Sorry, I don't understand at all. Maybe autocorrect was cruel to you?
The Jazz have to guarantee favors in order to trade him. They are trading him for no salary.
The Jazz are signing a free agent with essential all their cap room.
The Jazz are signing another free agent for the room exception.
Doesn't seem like rocket science.
-The BAE and room MLE are virtually the same amount, IIRC. What they call it on July 6th or whatever won’t matter, but they’ll have that amount one way or another.

-Teams below the cap don’t need to match incoming salaries with outgoing salaries. Absorbing Favors requires a team (The Pelicans in this case) to be at least his cap number under the cap (which they are/were) whether it’s before or after his deal is guaranteed.

That's fine by me. The options were waiving him, trading him for one 2nd rounder or trading him for two 2nd rounders. I'm glad we got two.

Now here are our 2nds the next few years:
2020 - none
2021 - GS
2022 - ours and SA
2023 - ours and GS
2024 - option to swap with Cleveland

Agreed. Here's the thing too is this makes the Jazz looks damn nice because they didn't just cut him. They got him to a preferred destination that needed a starting C (Pels looking damn nice now, BTW) while guaranteeing that deal and getting some small assets. Utah probably did the best they could given the situation, stayed classy, and the did right by a long time player. They did well here.

Great post. I agree 100%. They did right by Favors. That makes me happy.
