That was my understanding but the way non-idiots have been talking about this suggests otherwise. My patience is as limited as my internet bandwidth and general ability of my phone to do a deep dive.
 
korver may still have a place in the league on his role (and at his age, that role needs to be on low minutes and problably taking some games to rest), but we needed him so much cause we were awful at shooting, not cause he's some elite player (despiste elite shooting), and our roster right now doesn't have this same issue

A player cannot resign with his original team (that where he's traded from) once he is traded and bought out/waived/whatever. BUT, the scenario as I'm understanding it will be the trade is immediately done involving Korver would be from Memphis to Phoenix AFTER Utah's deal, so he could not be resigned by Memphis. As such, he could technically be re-signed by Utah. But, as Tony Jones noted, there was no contact.
 
If healthy and he has a desire to play, Korver can still play two 6-7 minute stints for 12-14 total minutes a game. Shooting’s at a premium and he can shoot.

Absolutely. By the way, backups are supposed to play less than 20 minutes, the Jazz just had garbage scoring and spacing and put too much on Korver. Keep him fresh and he’s very useful.

Additionally, there is value in guys that serve a specific function in a special teams situation: Needing a rebound (Davis AND Gobert), needing switchability (Mitchell/Royce/Ingles/Bojan/Davis), needing shooting (FTs or 3s), etc.

Agreed. It’s partly why I disagree with HH that we don’t have a need for Iggy. If Kawhi teams up with Lebron, we’re likely ****ed. Getting long, strong dudes to defend those guys are nearly impossible to find and if we can find one who wants to be here, we should do it and we’d then have two with him and Green (hopefully) to do so.

Those guys are tougher to find than guys like Exum to guard wings. And we have Royce and others who can do that.
 
That said, I’m cool for now rolling with Exum. His value really is super low and he is unique so if we can get him healthy and produce for a couple weeks (lmfao), we can determine from there ignorant it makes more sense to stand pat or how to attack the trade market, and tweak our team to make it even more ring-ready.

Iggy is also a do-it-all* player, and that was a big part of the Warrior’s success. The closest thing the Jazz have to that currently is Ingles.

*guard virtually anybody less than 7 feet, handle the ball, create their own shot in a pinch, handle contact, play big minutes, hit threes, and just have a broad feel and acumen for the game

Same. The way the roster is constructed will give him his best chance to shine. He has little pressure to be the primary ball handler (he’ll be playing with at least Ingles, but often Mitchell as well), he’ll have spacing, and he’ll always have an exceptional big behind him or to receive lobs (a legit skill he has).

If he doesn’t make anything happen this year, it has to end. No excuses.
 
Other than Iggy, who’s a unique (super long 6’6” or bigger) above average defender who has some offense who could be out there?

Aminu signed a 3/29 and makes about 9.258M this season.

Exum makes 9.1M.

Hmmmm.

No idea why the Magic would trade Aminu who are my super sleeper out of the East but...
