Has Kyle Weaver become redundant, or should we still strongly consider signing him?

His 10 day contract wasnt as extraordinary as Sundiata's, but I think he played quite solidly in the few games he did play, scoring 19 (I think) on one occasion as well. In five games with Utah,he averaged 5.6 points on 36 percent shooting (42.9 percent from 3-point land) along with 2.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 13.8 minutes. With the acquisition of Burks as a backup SG/PG, Hayward at SG Miles at SG and presumably Harris and Watson at PG, what are the chances that he comes back? Should he come back?

In 30.8 minutes Raja Bell averaged 5 more percent in the field (40.9% FG), 7 less from three point land, 2.4 more points, .6 more rebounds and less assists.

The three point shooting is most likely inflated due to the meagre sample size, but if youre rebounding and scoring almost as well as your starting two guard in less than half the minutes, either Bell is extremely awful or Weaver isnt half bad, especially seeing as he barely had time to get comfortable with the team. Its most likely the former, but I still want the guy to get a camp invite as a 12th-14th player if we have a next season.

There is no camp with a lockout though. Players like Weaver, can't really afford to wait around and not play.

Noticed how I said "if we have a next season" in the last few words of my previous posts. I just feel like having his guy on our team is a lot mroe contributional than someone along the lines of Francisco Elson, given our current logjam at the 4/5 (meaning Fes could be given the boot as well).

It doesn't matter IF we have a next season. Guys like Weaver aren't going to have the luxury of sitting around and hoping for a deal to get done. They are going to look at getting paid elsewhere.

I would rather have Watson for sure.

9 players under contract, 2 incoming rookies, and possible returning FAs in AK, Watson, Fes, and Price. Utah has no backup PG right now so Watson seems almost guaranteed some kind of offer. That's 12 players. I see Utah signing maybe two more guys besides him. Honestly I don't see any room for Weaver.

Unless we trade Bell, I don't see us re-signing Weaver. And I agree that he will not wait around if he is not signed by a team overseas already.

Can't recall the exact quote, but Tyrone Corbin basically said it didn't work out, so I doubt we see him in a Jazz Uniform while TC is coach.

Weaver is the exact reason the NBA needs to contract. Nevermind how some teams can't make money or even sell (NO), but we should be talking about whether or not Bell is the last man on the bench, not Weaver.

Jazz will likely go with 13 players. I doubt AK and Fes will be back. Drafting Kanter spelled the end for the Big Goofball. AK is questionable; Miller has given every indication Kirilenko WON'T be back. The team is thin at SF, however, especially if Hayward is being groomed as more of a SG. So AK is a possibility. I doubt it, though. Seems like Hayward, CJ and Burks is a pretty good rotation at the 2/3, with Millsap possibly getting some time at SF.

I'd like to see Watson return, since Harris has been injury prone his entire career. As for Price, just say NO. Jazz would be better off giving McLeod a phone call. Seriously, if KOC can't find a guy in the D-League who could play as well as Price did last season, he should step down.

What's the status of the Francisco Flying Dutchman Elson's contract? I think I'd rather have the bigger space eater in Fes than him, especially now since we'll have another under 7 foot center on the roster.

It was a one yar deal, Id be absolutely stunned if he returned to the Jazz. Fes would make a great 3rd string Center, rough up other teams star players for a few minutes every night. I feel like hell want a bigger role elsewhere though.

I really like Weaver. And I'm positive I want him or Price on the team (Price more for towel-waving, continuity, better practices, explosion off the bench once in a while reasons than as a real basketball player, but 10, 11, or 12th guys don't need to be reliable or necessarily productive). But not both (they are both combo guards that defend well and aren't dead-eyes, obviously having sufficient but suspect PG skills). Weaver is the better player and better long-term prospect.

Ronnie Price or Kyle Weaver?

On one hand, I have always really liked Ronnie Price, and his pleas to remain in Utah would be hard for the Franchise to reject. On the other hand, I am quite certain that Kyle Weaver is the better player. Ronnie Price has never scored 19 points in his entire career, yet Kyle Weaver did so in his ten day contract with Utah. Does he have the energy, and the good bench presence like Ronnie Price though?
