Bold Prediction: Oni will be a ....

That would be an absolute steal where he was drafted.
No doubt, but the talk around here, if I didn’t know better would think he’s headed to the HOF, and I said best case which means he’s most likely between Jamie Watson and Russell. If any of you remember Watson. Think he was a 6-7 combo guard back in the day till his idiot agent started filling his head with how great he was going to be. Don’t think he ever played again.

He's an athletic 3/D guy. I wouldn't expect too much more than that. It's nice he can get to the rim and make a few passes though.
I’ll be pretty happy if he ever gets to a Danny Green or Kent Bazemore Level tbh.

I’m glad he’s showing out right now, but it’s going to take a LOT more than Summer League to convince that he’s even a future starter in the league.

Thought maybe he’d get a 2 way contract initially, but I think it’s entirely likely that he gets (at least) a partially guaranteed 3 year deal. I think Brantley is likely to get a standard 2 year rookie contract. JWF probably gets a 2 way to start out with. All three guys likely spend a TON of time with the Stars this year.

Hope he turns out great but top 50 is more than a bold prediction. Top 30 are in the all star game. If he makes top 100 in 3 years that would be incredible.

I think I saw a player ranking where Joe Ingles was ranked in the mid 50s. So it’s not too crazy.

But you are correct. Miye Oni becoming top 100 would be incredible.

One good summer league game doesn’t mean much. I need to see more.

If we get any sort of rotation player from a 50s pick, I'd be happy. That said, I wouldn't mind signing any of the seconds and seeing how they develop.

Oni has the physical tools that could make him a top 50 player; but he also could turn into Kirk Snyder.

Right now, he looks more like our version of Terrence Ferguson.

To be fair, Danny Green was cut by both the Cavs and the Spurs. He appeared in 28 NBA games over his first two seasons, scoring a total of 81 points. 13/41 (32%) on threes. He got most of his minutes in the D-League before breaking out in his 3rd season.

Kent Bazemore was undrafted and was most famous for his sideline celebrations before he put together a nice run with the Lakers (after being traded in his second season), and turning that into an opportunity for a bigger role in Atlanta. In 105 games with the Warriors, he averaged 5.1 minutes per game, 2.1 points per game. 20/73 (27%) on threes. He broke out in this 4th season (second in Atlanta).

I’m not saying Oni is going to have success. I’m simply saying that if he develops and plays (at a minimum) as well as either of these two guys - who took advantage of hard work and fitting great in the Spurs system in SA and Atlanta - then it was a homerun pick at #58.

He sat out the summer league game I went to, so all I’ve seen is his YouTube highlights.

I think it’s premature to compare him to someone who contributes to an NBA team. He’s got a long ways to go.
