High octane offense dominated by wing play, and heavy running game. Laimbeer and Ming anchor a post-heavy change-of-pace to open things up on the wing. Gobert provides a strong athletic dynamic due with Davis. Very difficult to score inside with 3 rim protectors and a solid enforcer in Laimbeer. English and Kobe provide a substantial scoring punch, playing off each other with fast movement and many open looks. English as one of the best mid-range shooters of all time will feast in the open areas around the FT line, as Bryant/Billups/Holiday/Hamilton all set up for kicks to the 3. Play a true inside-out game, reminiscent of the best 90’s and early 00’s team, with a strong 3 pt game to counter, draw the D, and open it up for skilled big men inside. With arguably the best stretch big in this thing, Davis creates matchup nightmares and provides unrivaled help defense, while Laimbeer, at 36% from 3, is an unorthodox stretch big that commands attention to open up the middle. Almost any lineup can be created to counter whatever is thrown at it, with strong wing defenders, 1 of the best defenders at PG in the game, and multiple scorers who can drop 30, 40, even 50+ any given night.

The offense centers around Kobe, with Billups and Hamilton as secondary ball handlers and creators - primarily with the 2nd unit. Holiday provides a change of pace point as we initiate a running game that is second to none, with Holiday, Kobe, Hamilton or Sprewell, English and Davis for a small ball lineup that will present numerous matchup problems and excellent defense at all positions. Go big with Davis in a SF role, Laimbeer, and Ming, for interior defense and scoring, round that out with Hamilton and Billups or Holiday and Billups for a grinding game and physicality nearly unmatched in this competition.

Spycam1:

My team is built around the greatest rivalry in the history of basketball: two of the most competitive basketball savants the game has ever seen.

There are no defensive or offensive liabilities in this lineup. It has elite defense, spacing, ball movement, size, athleticism, toughness, clutch play, and star power.

****ing @spycam1

You’re amazing. Still think you’re crazy for trading Hakeem and giving Thee
a chance to win this thing. . . but this Bird/Magic pairing is amazing.

Don’t really want to vote for you again. . . but I can’t help myself.

Lol thanks?

I'm probably the biggest Hakeem homer around--it was hard to trade him, believe me. But I wanted to do something new with my team. Pairing up Magic and Bird sounded like a loooot of fun, and something I probably wouldn't have the chance to ever do again (whereas, I had already paired up Bird/Hakeem once before). And I couldn't complain about getting back a two-way center like Zo to replace Hakeem. Plus, trading Lillard was pretty easy when I was able to get Kyrie as a 6th man scorer (I think they're pretty interchangeable).

It’s fascinating to watch you put together these dynamic duos year in and year out. I tried to match that by trading up for Durant, but it cost so much that I couldn’t surround them with the amount of talent I’d have liked to.

It's a risky strategy, no doubt.

Damnit, ran into the nostalgia team. Bummer.

I'm probably the biggest Hakeem homer

I’ve had Hakeem in these drafts multiple times, overall I think he’s the best center to play the game. I was excited to pair Magic and Giannis together, drafting them in the first and second rounds respectively. I wanted to build a run and gun team, so I was looking for explosives players and elite scorers, I felt fortunate that Vince fell right into my lap. My original plan was to draft Pistol to run along side Magic as a secondary playmaker and elite scorer, but as my pick in the fourth round drew near, I realized Zo was still on the board. Being an elite scorer and defender at the center position I couldn’t pass it up, also being a guy that could run well for a big. I wasn’t sure Pistol would last to my fifth round pick, so I offered numerous trades but nothing. I got lucky he was still there, then out of the blue spy offers me Hakeem and I forget who else for Magic and Giannis. I told him no, that I wasn’t giving both players away and was excited to have both as a pairing, then later that day he re-offered Hakeem, Lillard and Artest for Magic and Zo and my next pick. Getting Hakeem, I had no problem giving Zo in return as Hakeem is the superior player at the same position. I couldn’t pass up the duo of Hakeem and Giannis.

It's
Which is funny, cause you usually complain about the recency bias in these tournaments.

You have a good team though.
It's one or the other. Have to have beloved players of yesteryear (read: 80's or 90's) or current players. Can't build a team to try to win the games. I'd love to see the Sim on our teams though.

This is my favorite player mix ever. From the editing, to the music, to the audio clips, it's such a well constructed tribute. It gives goosebumps.

Loggrad has better height except pg, I think Kobe would win this one with AD and Gobert
That was my strategy this time, surround Kobe with supreme team players and next-level interior defenses to let him do what he does best. Strong D and scoring off the bench, 2 bigs that can stretch the floor and 4 bigs all with exceptional or generational D. No one is scoring inside and that allows my premium perimeter defenders to roam. English provides a change of pace scorer and combines into a very strong running game. I have very few if any holes, and I can matchup just about anywhere whereas it will be very tough to match up to me. Imagine a big lineup with Davis at the SF, Laimbeer and Ming with Kobe and Billups. Or a small lineup with Spre, Hamilton, Holiday, Kobe and Davis. I think I have a chance against anyone in this thing really.

I really tried to vote for you, I even did, but changed my mind. Just too much pedigree and nba greatness with the pairing of Magic and Bird, then add Dumars, who is way underrated by Jazzfanz. He’s under-drafted here every year. And Zo played with more grit and a chip on his shoulders then most. I just love that lineup too much. You do have a guy I love sooo much in this thing in English, the most prolific scorer in the 80’s. I draft him every year, and it pained me when you took him. Thought I could just wait till the 7th round. It’s usually where I draft him.

Yeah I like spy’s team. He has two absolute studs. Game changers. Log only has one in Kobe. Anthony Davis would be the guy he could say is his second but there’s no way I’d want to depend on The Tin Man.

As much as I love Chauncey and what he brings I also like spy’s intangibles and chemistry more. Kobe and Davis are negative in that category imo.

Benches are about equal.
