Rotation Notes: Havlicek will play more minutes than Mitchell and Pettit the same as Horry. The rotation was designed to make logical sense in terms of defensive and offensive rotations. Sloan will not play much because the other 9 guys are known for playing multiple positions and heavy minutes.

My team is built on championship pedigree + defense + shooting. This team is made up of winners. Everybody on my roster, outside of Mitchell and Sloan, was a key part of championship teams. These guys would do whatever it takes to win. They all play defense. They all were passers with above average assist rates. They were all known as guys who would fight for everything. They all sacrificed on behalf of the team. With this group of guys, chemistry would never be an issue.

This is the best defense in this competition because every player on my team (outside young Donovan) was either an All Defense regular or was a major defensive difference maker for title winners. The team is super athletic, long and able to switch on multiple positions. Pippen is considered the best perimeter defender of all time. Russell is considered the best defensive center in the history of the league not named Wilt. Havlicek was Pippen before Pippen and also known as the greatest 6th man in the history of the NBA. Frazier was a 6'4" 7 time All Defense. Horry won 7 titles as a beast switchable defender.

Every PG, SG, SF and PF on my roster is a 3 point threat. It's a team full of shooters who defend at the highest level and all pass better at a higher than average rate. Tiny Archibald had a season leading the league with 34ppg and 11.4apg and is the only time in league history a player led both in the same season. It's unfortunate he tore his Achilles not too long later or he was one pace to be one of the greatest players of all time.

If this competition is about winning and winners making that happen, I put my team up against anybody. I'm the team that nobody would want to play because every single guy is win first over everything else.

Jason "Hit Me" Kidd
The Floor General
(NBA champion 2011 with Dallas) led a doormat NJ Nets team to back-to-back Finals with the paltry help of Kerry Kittles, Kenyon Martin, Jason Collins, and Keith Van Horn. He was 2nd in voting for MVP behind Tim Duncan. Defensive PG; 4-time All-Defensive First Team. His career averaged a double double (pts/ast) and was well known for his rebounding ability (6.8/game). He could hit 36% from 3, so he wasn't often being left unguarded behind the line. Was the leader of the Run and Gun Suns, boring as hell NJ Nets (but still East Champs x2), and Championship Mavs.

Dwyane "FLASH" Wade
(3x NBA champion 2006 [Finals MVP], 2012, 2013) and Scoring Champion (2009).
Won first NBA championship in his 3rd year; His 33.8 PER in the NBA finals was ranked by ESPN as the greatest Finals performance since the NBA-ABA Merger. Terrific passer; 7.5 apg/career. Could create offense on his own. Teamed up with Shaq (or in my case, Embiid) and proved to be a money maker.

Dominique "The HUMAN HIGHLIGHT FILM" Wilkins
Scoring champion 1986; 2x slam dunk champion. Best known as an acrobatic, outstanding finisher, he also had range: he hit 38.8% from 3 when he played for Boston (1.7/4.5 attempts per game). My best off-the-ball player given his ability to get so much air. His acrobatics make him perfect for today's lob/oop plays: throw him the ball and he'll slam it down over defenders. He hated the rim so much.

Front Court: Wallace and Embiid gives you lots of length and decent outside shooting with trailer jumpers, on setscreens, or simply shooting over the top of defenses. They’re both able to throw down and get physical to win (No one is pushing these two, ahem MALICE AT THE PALACE ‘SHEED).

Rasheed Wallace

40 technicals in a year once, bitched out Tim Donaghy on a loading dock. Proved he was a team-first/win-first player when he was a key part of the 2004 Detroit Pistons championship team. Hit 36% from 3. Stretched defenses, but could play with his back to the basket at 6'11'/230lbs.

Joel Embiid

7 footer who can stretch defenses, shoot the 3, scores in bunches (27ppg, 13rpg). Defensive beast. He became one of seven players with 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 200 blocks in his first 100 games, joining Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neal, Alonzo Mourning, David Robinson, Hakeem Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson.

Pau Gasol
Hit 49.4% from 3 the year he was asked to do this for SAS. Gasol was a perfect fit with the Lakers' triangle offense, working great with Kobe and Andrew Bynum to win championships.

If you need a crafty SG/SF, I've got Manu Ginobili. Mr 6th Man/AKA Floppy Dawggh, he flourished in this role for San Antonio. We all know what he can do. The glue guy for the multiple Spurs championship teams. Exquisite passer. Career 37% from 3.

Paul Millsap stretched his game out since leaving Utah. Multiple All-Star appearances, he's now a crucial figure on the Nuggets. Dude hits 3s, great passer, hard worker, team player. Can play SF/PF naturally.

Baron Davis can jump out of the gym and brings all the requisite attributes of a modern NBA PG. Terrific coming off the bench.

Ben Gordon is my WILDCARD. When the offense is stagnant, or you need a fearless gunner, Gordon will be the spark. He was able to go toe-to-toe with Ray Allen in the 2009 ECF, hit 42 pts in a game in some COLD-BLOODED shooting. He's not the guy you build your team around, but he can explode (ala Jamal Crawford/Lou Williams/Michael Redd).

Other Notes: Wallace and Gasol can switch in the starting lineup depending on the length and speed of the opposing team's PF.

I need to know what trades LoPo is going to propose before voting. Some of the teams that got crushed in earlier voting should be open to trades.

Lopo’s team is shaky. Three of his bench guys are better than three of his starters. Terrible coaching.

The Spurs must have really sucked since Manu came off the bench.....

My team is about fit and chemistry. Most of these other teams have way, way too many ball dominant players to work. Plus, you have to look at rotations. I've got guys coming off the bench playing more than starters for a reason. Just go research John Havlicek.

LoPo:

PG Frazier 30mpg
SG Mitchell 18mpg
SF Pippen 36mpg
PF Horry 21mpg
C Russell 36mpg
Havlicek 30mpg
Archibald 24mpg
Pettit 23mpg
Reed 18mpg
Sloan 4mpg

I chose my team to intentionally be very switchable. Every guy on my team plays multiple positions on both sides of the court.

I have the best defensive team in the league that doesn't come with the offensive weaknesses. Everybody on my team can shoot except Reed, Russell and Sloan but I really don't plan on playing Sloan that much. Havlicek is known as the best 6th man in the history of the game. My team will look a little like the modern Spurs where Ginobli came off the bench, but was a massive reason they succeeded. All of my players were champions outside of Sloan and Mitchell. They did what it took to win. They sacrificed stats for titles. That's what it's all about.

The main gist of my team - it's built on defense, shooting, selflessness, and championship quality.
Where is the rest of my writeup?

Yes.

Horry is the worst starter in the tournament.

Havlicek was pippin in his era and top 30 all time. Having him on the bench instead of Donovan is not good.

You could argue Horry is worse. He hit a few monumental shots in his career and has a ton of rings because he was on stud teams. He wasn’t anything special at all though so far as a year in, year out starter in the NBA goes.

I didn't realize how bad horrys stats were

He played like 16 years in the NBA. Averaged over 10 points per game 3 times. The most he averaged was 12.0 (in 37 minutes per game which was also a career high) on %41 from the field.

People who never watched him play only remember big shot bob.

I still remember that lakers playoffs, I think game 7 or something. It was the end of the game, a shot by the lakers was missed. Everyone was fighting for a rebound and Big shot just kinda hanging out behind the line for no reason and luckily for him and the lakers, in the scrum for the loose ball it bounces to him for a last second wide open three. Lol

It’s criminal that he has Horry starting over Pettit, really it’s inexcusable that LoPo even drafted him. Lol
He fits and that's all that matters. I could throw a scorer like Barkley or Melo, but I prefer the Bama boy who will sit back and wait for shots.

Read the rotations. Pettit will play the same or more minutes.
