Headband Ban To End

That's old news bro.
And it says in the article "who knows why they are being banned". So ya, we can't be sure it's to promote togetherness or is because not every player in the NBA wants to wear them and it has to be an all or nothing thing.

Really has nothing to do with Sloan and headbands

I liked the ninja headbands... also we were like 6 months away from the trend taking off and super white guys wearing those in pickup runs... sad.

But they aren't all "uniform" as some are black some are pink some are yellow etc etc.

I remember big dog Carr wearing glasses yet I didn't see everyone else wearing them.

He wore glasses because he couldn't see and everyone else could. Same reason most people wear glasses while others don't. Believe it or not, wearing swimming goggles on a basketball court wasn't because that player wanted a little more swag than his teammates. Those glasses were because that player couldn't see!!! Is this the first time you heard this?? Damn millennials. Knee pads were also worn to protect the knees, sweat bands were worn to absorb..................................yep, you didn't guess it, sweat. Headbands didn't do sh*** but look cool. All wore them or nobody did.

Sloan was an overrated crochidy old man who told kids to get off of his lawn. He cost the Jazz so many games by yelling at the refs and NEVER calling timeouts when the other team would go on a run. It's about time that they got rid of that ridiculous unwritten rule that made no sense.

He was a good coach in the league, but I wouldnt call him a great coach

Sloan is one of TWO coaches; (2 coaches, sorry not sure if you know how to read the word two, thought the W would confuse you) to win over 1,000 games with a single team. He took the Jazz to 15 consecutive (consecutive means following continuously, and continuously means without gaps) playoff appearances. My wild guess says that you were still defecating yourself when you last watched coach Sloan coach the Jazz. My other guess that's not so wild says that your still defecating yourself now. If not out one end, it's out through your mouth according to this blasphemy your posting about Coach Sloan. Most guys don't wan't kids on their lawn, why are you still that child walking on lawns of homeowners when your in your mamas basement?? Do your research on Sloan instead of base your opinion on your childhood memory because the only thing that will come to mind is you remembering my face sneeking out mamas bedroom while your in your crib helpless.

Oh I agree with you that he was great with that team that was lead by kirilenko and Harpring. I never said he was a bad coach or a mediocre coach, but he wasnt a great coach.

He wouldnt ever call a play for a 3 pointer

He wouldnt make an adjustment on the court

He would make his substitutions like clockwork no matter how x player was performing

He wouldnt ever call a timeout when a team was starting to make a run, he would wait until it was like a 12-0 run before a timeout

He wouldnt let his point guards call plays

He ruined AK47

Refs DID NOT like him and I'm sure would sway calls because of it

A lot of players did not want to play for him

Did not ever make an adjustment when the league allowed zone defense

I think people have mistaken the toughness and intensity that he brought to the game as coaching IQ. He was a good coach, he belongs in the hall of fame (because of his record and longevity), but he wasnt a great coach.

What are you talking about?? You say he was a good coach when he coached AK and Harpring but not the previous 14 consecutive (consecutive means "following continuously". Continuously means "without gaps".) playoff appearances he had coaching the Jazz? Taking the Jazz to the finals to get beat by the GOAT Michael Jordan, but you reflect on his days with AK and Harpring?? Of course you would. Your not old enough to remember the 90's let alone the 80's.

Your other myth is that Sloan would never call a play for a 3 pointer?? This is a shortcut to stupid and reveals your ignorance. He called plays for 3 all the time. They weren't a first priority play because they weren't a first priority play for any team in the league.

"He wouldn't make an adjustment on the court"? He wouldn't have made it to OVER 1,000 WINS if he didn't make adjustments on the court. Anyone that watched him remembered him screaming at players mid play almost every play. You look so stupid to me and anyone else that wasn't 5 years old watching Sloan.

"He made substitutions like clockwork".
Corrections, he made one substitution like clockwork to throw off the other team. He subbed Stockton out after 5 minutes in the first quarter everytime, to not only throw off the other team but prioritize Stocktons minutes. It's still known as one of the wisest moves by any coach today. You really think he didn't make subs on the fly even with foul trouble, inefficient play, etc?? You believe that?? What else will you believe?? I've got some stories, you'll eat them up.

"He wouldn't call a timeout when another team made a run".
He was notorious for chewing out his team after a timeout following a 4-0 run within the first 2 minutes of a game. Your memory from when you were 4 years old (just a few years ago) is failing you.

"He wouldn't let his Point Guards call plays"
He gave the green light to Stockton and Stockton has said over and over in many documentaries, that he refused because he felt more comfortable with Sloan calling them, than himself. Sounds like Sloan really sucked coming from one of the greatest Point Guards ever to play. Or are you going to debate that to??

"He ruined AK"
AK? the guy that vanished from the NBA after agreeing to Nets, but then they couldn't get a hold of him, and nobody has been able to to this day? If one man can ruin another man, do you really think you deserve to be called a man?? If AK was "ruined" by Sloan, who's the real man? For instance, I'm ruining you right now. Are you still a man?? AK was smart, he knew he was garbage and hid his career in a dumpster overseas. My gut tell's me you'll continue to let that garbage fly out your mouth, but then again AK was smart, you're the latter.

"A lot of players didn't wan't to play for him"
A lot of players have the spine of a wet paper back book. Sloan demanded perfection and for his squad to play a mans game. If your not a man, you wouldn't like his system.

"Did not ever make an adjustment when the League allowed zone defense"
Most didn't and where is the NBA on zone defense now??

I'm not sure that's true. There were only a couple of players in the league that actually wore a headband before the early 2000s. Cliff Robinson is the only player that comes to mind but I'm sure there were others. Out of 450ish players in the league and only a couple wore a headband would suggest that players didnt want to wear them, so no need for a rule

It's like, having traffic signs when the model-t was invented. There wasnt a need for it

Yea, what comes to mind for you wouldn't take you further than the early 2000's. Funny how Wilt Chamberlain, Dr. J, Bill Walton, Ben Wallace, Rasheed Wallace, Donald Watts, Allen Iverson, Paul Pierce, Vince Carter, etc never came to mind.

It's like, no-matter how long you polish a turd, in the end, it's still a polished turd.

Get your facts straight, before you posted that link even you said that sloan outlawed them. Get your facts straight before you flap your buttcheeks and look like an idiot

Sent from my SM-G965U using JazzFanz mobile app

Ummm...... aren't you the one that reps the Jazz but said that Sloan wasn't a great coach?? At least his buttcheeks are near his butt. Yours however, are in the middle of your face.

This is a stupid thing to argue about, I'll digress.

I'm just happy that the Jazz got rid of that unwritten rule, it was stupid to begin with

Sent from my SM-G965U using JazzFanz mobile app

Not nearly as stupid as when your parents were arguing about whos at fault for your mistake. Your right. Jerry Sloan was in his Prime when he coached AK and Matt Harpring to the playoffs during the most watered down, talent-less season the NBA has ever seen. That was the highlight of his career. You said it first.

I actually think it felt racist that he banned the headbands.

Im not sure Im ready to call Sloan racist, but something about the headband ban felt racist.

@One Brow
@NUMBERICA
@Gameface
I agree.
I think it might have been more of a jazz management thing than Sloan thing (layden had a similar rule before Sloan).
White conservative Mormon City didn't want such a hip hop urban thing on their team.
