The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

This is the definition of a pretextual retroactive justification. Do you really believe that Donald Trump was personally aware of Shokin's statements regarding Firtash's expedition at the time of the call? Do you think he could tell you, today, who Firtash or Yanukovych are?

REALLY?

Ukraine is inviting the U.S. to investigate corruption involving U.S. interests in Ukraine. Several people outside the Ukraine government have reportedly made themselves available to John Durham. Shokin isn't likely raising his contentions for the first time with this week's affidavit. The bottom line is that the administration has ample reason to discuss corruption with Ukraine, and discuss Biden specifically, beyond just a personal vendetta against Biden.

Hi, I’m what you would probably call a socialist (but I’m not, really).

I want to dismantle certain things, sure. Bad things, like insane military spending and the apparatus of greenhouse gas emissions that will kill us all. I also don’t like economic imperialism that has a history of using veritable slave labor and that gets foreign leaders deposed, and whose replacements murder dissidents. I also know nationalism is silly at best.

I want people in this country to have resources that residents of every other country with money (but all of them with less than us) has, such as healthcare for people. Those people like their healthcare by the way, and most of those countries rank above the US in health and general well-being.

I don’t think that constitutes wanting to destroy the US unless you think the US is bad.
This is me to a tee. I think I'm starting to lean back to Sanders. His outlook on foreign policy and military spending is more in line with my views than Warren, I'm surprised he hasn't really attacked her on that yet tbh.

The law of the land hasn't. That's one constant. Well, untill the party of slavery wants to ban guns.

The party that more recently passed the civil rights act, voting rights, and provided us with the first and only African American president, that party? Cmon D’Ninesh D’Souza, try to keep up.

It’s like the stuff Tim Snyder, Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt have been writing about for the past few years. Complete breakdown of common values and democratic norms. @Red

Exactly. When people say, or think, "it can't happen here", of course they are usually thinking of how a dictatorship would never happen here, but, I think more pertinent is that people often enough simply do not recognize what is happening when it is happening. The things that can happen when people fail to recognize them, are sometimes dangerous enough, and as soon as one says it can't happen here, is when one lets one guard down.

And this is on top of the difficulty of standing outside ones own time and place, the better to see more clearly, understand better, the time in which one lives. It helps to always look ahead and ask "what are future generations going to say?" None of us can completely stand outside our own time and place, but we make things harder by sleepwalking through that portion of history that is ours to live. And you know as well as anyone how an understanding of history informs the present. It helps one recognize what is happening when it is happening. One good thing about everything that is happening, on a personal level, is that I am constantly attempting to be more awake, and not sleepwalk through the times in which I live.

Could you name those interested in investigating Biden? You claim that there are other reporters, not just partisan hack John Solomon. Who are the others?

What is Hunter Biden/Burisma Holdings supposed to be guilty of again? There’s no evidence of wrongdoing, right? We’re just taking Trumpworld’s lying word? Nutjobs like Levin and Hannity yelling at the cameras?

Doesn't it strike you as odd that the only examples of Ukraine "corruption" Trump is interested in are the crowdstrike server (Hillary and the DNC) and the Bidens?

That's just a coincidence right?

I just said that In my post above. Why are we taking trump’s word here? When hasn’t he lied?

What evidence is there that Biden or the Burisma Holdings have done anything wrong. I just googled the company. It doesn’t have a sketchy history. Should we launch an investigation into Bill Gates because trump tweets something nuts about Microsoft tonight?

People understand that Trump lies incessantly and Mark Levin, John Solomon, and Sean hannity are hacks, right?

@sirkickyass is more knowledgeable than us on this issue, but is Burisma supposed to be a corrupt or scandalous company? Have they broken any laws? Is there any evidence that Hunter Biden did something wrong?

Soooooo why are we taking Trump’s excuse at face value when he has all the motivation in the world to lie so he can escape impeachment?

Cuz he's all about the cause and I think both of them view the other as more-or-less part of a team.

Seems normal.

Kind of funny that this comes out on the heels of the NRA being found to have given assistance to Russian officials.

Oh and trading legislative action in exchange for financial support is, um, a crime.

If the Times report is accurate, that's just nuts.
