I was at the game, had Row 9 seats. Here's what I can say:
** Both Mitchell and Conley were playing at full speed. Lillard started out blazing, as did CJ McCollum. However, our guards matched theirs overall in the 1st half.
** Mitchell's offensive game has matured, and he's picking his spots and playing with more intention than he has in the past. He's not settling for floaters. He's also getting to the foul line. He matched Lillard's output in the first half, shot for shot, which is a really good sign. He was getting his legs under him on his 3-pt shots and made 4/5. He was pressing later in the game, which hurt his percentage a bit.
** I still don't think Rudy was going full speed. He made efforts here and there, but his energy level was actually pretty low for much of the game. It'll be interesting to see how much he conserves his energy during games.
** The Blazers are basically the same team they've always been. When both Lillard and McCollum go off for big nights, they're very, very difficult to beat. But if even one of them is having an off-night, they're going to struggle to score enough
** Our starting forwards, Royce and Bogdanovic, combined for a total of 8 pts. on 2/15 shooting. That's why we fell behind. Not only did Bogdanovic not hit a shot, he didn't grab a rebound either. Sorry, but we just can't have that kind of lack of production from the forward spots. I can see why the Jazz are letting Bogdanovic play through this, but he's just off, and his effort wasn't great either.
** Mudiay can overpower other PGs and get downhill. He's able to make reads a bit and finish at the rim. He gives us a potential mismatch with the 2nd unit, so don't be surprised if we go to it quite a bit.
