7'2" PF with a 7'4" wingspan. Sets hard screens, plays smart. Legit big man with a post-game, and a great passer, rebounder, shot-blocker to boot. I know, I know, he spurned the Jazz before, but Bojan Bogdanovic and him have played together on the Croatian national team. Maybe Bojan puts in a good word, after Zanik calls Ante's agent.

I mean Sabonis was a 31-year-old rookie, and that worked out pretty well. Sometimes, you got to take a chance.

I could see him occupying a role similar to Derrick Favors as a starting 4/backup 5. The difference being that Tomic can actually hit 12-18 footers, and he's a much MUCH better passer than Favors. He'd get Gobert lots of easy buckets, as well as the 3 point shooters. He'd have instant chemistry with Bojan from their years together on the national team, and he'd only have to play 60 games left of the regular season. Also, no one seems to have the height to match up with the Lakers right now. He is someone that A. Davis would legit have to guard in the post and someone who could possibly frustrate AD as he tends to have trouble against guys his own size (not to mention the imposing towers that Tomic and Gobert would be together on the defensive end).

Everyone seems to have their own ideas - Zach Lowe mentioned Marcus Morris coming to Utah, a bunch of articles this week about Kevin Love. It's been something that articles were being written about (and smart folks like Zach Lowe were bringing up) before the season even started - are the Jazz too small? where is their rebounding going to come from? This would seem to address both those questions, maybe. This would be a move you could experiment with that wouldn't cost you anything (at least not via trade) - if it didn't work out, you could still trade Exum (plus change) for Marcus Morris (or somebody) at the deadline. His contract only runs through the 19-20 season with Barcelona - so a buyout would be minimal.

It would also allow us to move Royce O'Neale to the bench, where his defense and shooting would be greatly appreciated.

I expected this thread to be a bump from like 2009, or whenever it was people were talking about Tomic.

Tomic already said he never wanted to play here. So he's never going to come play here. Pretty easy

The problem is - the Jazz still have needs and nothing of trade value. We can't get Kevin Love without removing our whole bench + picks. It's too much to give up. There was talk about the Kings looking to move Bejelica (who would be a good fit here), but we can't get him without giving up Ed Davis + Jeff Green. There is virtually no trade that we can make, we need what little bench we have and we need our future picks (we already gave away a ton of picks for Mike Conley).

Another guy who would be a good possible fit with the Jazz could be Tornike Shengelia. He too only has this season on his contract and has an NBA opt out written into his contract. Which likely means that he wants to be in the NBA. He's a legit 6'9" PF and has some guard skills, can hit from outside (43%), good from the line (78%) and is a volume scorer (18.8 ppg).

Has DL really made such a mess of this team that fanz are again looking to Tomic for excitement and hope?

Saddest state of jazz since atleast 2013.
