What's new

What's The Last Movie You’ve Seen?

I pretty much only watch movies on planes these days so I'm pretty pedestrian in my tastes. But some good recent ones:

Free Solo-Got through about 2/3 of it but the plane landed. Makes you nervous even though you know he survived, and I haven't even got to the climb yet.

Angel Has Fallen-About an assassination attempt on the President and a Secret Service agent being framed for it. Pretty good shoot-em-up flick.

Apollo 11- Excellent documentary footage from the moon mission.

Framing John Delorean- Decent flick about the automotive executive whose life went to **** in a cocaine deal. Weird role for Alec Baldwin.

It's not new but if you're a fan of WW2 history the Netflix series World War II In Colour is so good.

Watched Marriage Story this weekend. It was good, not great. Some great moments, but as a whole it wasn't great. Not even in my top 3 Baumbach movies (1. Squid and the Whale 2. Frances HA 3. Life Aquatic). Driver and Johansen are really stellar and they have some amazing scenes but I feel the movie was a bit overrated.

Shot Caller with GoT’s Jaime Lannister. Really good movie. Don’t want to say anything about it. It’s not perfect. In fact, nothing about it is great. Neither the acting nor writing. But there’s something unsettling about it that lingers and that’s why the movie works. It really works.

It’s on Netflix.

20 minutes into American Woman. Sienna Miller as the lead, Christina Hendricks, Amy Madigan, I think Aaron Paul is in it too...some other people you’ll recognize. Excellent. Acting is pitch perfect.

This movie was excellent. Sienna Miller was borderline-Oscar nominee worthy imo.

New Nolan trailer came out yesterday. Boing!

I’m stoked. Though tbh, his scripts (his bros really) are typically pretty weak.

Dude better do a couple James Bond flicks after Fukunaga. He’s born for them.

Watching Richard Jewell in a few hours.

Meh. Eastwood has to be the most overrated director, at least over the last 15 years or so anyway. He’s known to finish his films ahead of schedule and it shows in his mediocre work.
