Go get Baynes

Yes. All the ones we traded were ones that DL has stockpiled. He usually trades them for cash.
And conversely, one can always buy them for cash. So adding second round picks to a trade is essentially just like adding cash.

I wonder what it would take to get him? He's 33 and his contract expires at the end of the season so I find it hard to believe anyone would give up a 1st for him, I could be wrong though. I think he would fit like a glove on this team and be a MAJOR upgrade over Davis and Bradley.

this wasn’t a realistic proposition a month ago, but Phoenix is sliding down the standings, and they can’t like their chances of making the playoffs very much at this point. The development of Ayton is a priority over playing Baynes (an expiring contract), obviously.

And obviously nobody is going to offer a first for Baynes.

So, here we are. We offer Ed Davis and two second-round picks. Ed battles Kaminsky for minutes at backup C.

This makes too much sense at this point, so it probably won’t happen. But it should. Phoenix doesn’t get a better offer, imo.

Comfortably your best ever idea.

I'm on board with the idea, but Davis has a two-year contract, and it actually goes up slightly next year (from $4.7M to $5M). They may baulk at trading an expiring to add salary for next year, since they project to be ~$17M under the cap next season. However, we could also send cash (up to $5.6M) to facilitate an off-season buyout. They'd actually save cash this year and still be the same amount under the cap next season.

Baynes would be the perfect fit here imho. He brings defense, toughness, rebounding, and shoots the 3 ball well enough to match the squad better than Davis.

I loved the idea of davis but count me as another who would love a trade to pick up Baynes.
