Jazz throttle the Spurs at their place game thread

Oh. I’ve been watching the game. And the fact that jazz fans were already whining about the refs (not the poor play of our team) early in the 2nd qtr after Rudy committed two straight boneheaded fouls is pretty laughable to me. We played like crap. We’re not going to beat many playoff teams playing the way we did against Houston and San Antonio.
The second half was where the calls went south... imo.

I don’t even think we played that bad... they made a lot of shots. We definitely didn’t play great but thought we were average on offense.

Those two fouls on Rudy were dumb in the first half. That fourth one is one they can call on any big almost anytime up the court.

Why not open the game tomorrow with Morgan, Brantley, Ingles, NWG and JWF and then sub the starters in. There won't be any tape on these guys and they might play with some energy. Take some of the pressure off.

Ahhh... look I’m in a mood... gonna go yell at some ****ing clouds

I’m not sure if he can really help us honestly. Have there been any games where he’s started/played big mins and we wouldn’t have won had Mudiay/Clarkson been given his mins? I’m at the point now where I seriously wonder if we’d miss him if he and Mudiay switched roles.
Perhaps what bothers me the most is going from playing a guy over 20 mins a game to playing him 0, nada, adios. If I were Mudiay I would want out without a doubt.

I missed it, but what happened with Donovan Mitchell throwing up a wild layup that pretty much hit the bottom of the backboard near the end there?

Yeah I’m not sure. I do think if teams go five out we should bring in Mudiay... would be nice to have one big forward to anchor that unit as a 5, but they gonna score anyway... I’d rather have Mudiay get some burn. Can at least help more on the offensive end.

bojan, conley, niang, bradley, clarkson.

that is 5 out of your current 9-men rotation that are mediocre-horrendous level of defenders. it's simply too much ground for rudy, royce joe and donovan to cover. and even for joe/DM, i'd call them average defenders too given the ball-handling load that they have to carry that really hurt their concentration/energy on D.

Im fairly sure he got hit... our stellar broadcast team gave us the worst replay angle ever so we may never know.

One of the things that I really wish Quin would do is better identify bad matchups before they become a problem.

Putting Bradley in a position to defend a five out offense is a recipe for disaster.

Joe has had some bad nights recently. Royce is good but has some limitations.

Niang has actually done a much better job staying in front of guys and competing... he still gets his *** kicked but just less.

no one on the staff foresaw that?

...

Yeah. It's an obvious hole. While we still have Rudy, last year we had more defenders we could throw at scoring threats. Not to mention better rim protection with Favors.

We probably win this game if we have favors. We’d be set if we had favors instead of Conley.

He got hit on the wrist. But honestly Donovan needs to figure out how to go through defenders, not around them. Getting to the line on a regular basis is going to be the next step in his offensive evolution.

A bit yes. We can't get out of his contract, and I don't see any way he opts out, so if we're gonna end up paying Conley 32 Mil. next season we might as well try to get him back to being an all-star level player right?
i'd be careful with the words. since when was conley considered an "all-star level player"? playing at an all-star level usually leads to at least one all-star selection, right? rudy and DM were robbed but at least they are bout to get theirs this year

Will say I'd rather lose games than have either of the Morris brothers on the squad. People bitch about CP3 for competing hard and riding the dirty line, those two are bad people off the court.

I was cool with it in the first half... but he didn’t get any offensive rebounds... we might be able to punish smallball that way... second half we have to be better. I’m not sure why we don’t try guys either... like let’s give Brantley or Morgan a chance maybe.

In other news I actually think Ed was okay... got dunked on by Trey but other than that he did a couple good energy things.
