2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

If nothing else we should at least trade Ed for a second round pick and then sign a big. I think someone will become available on the buyout market and if not just sign Udoh, he's way better than Ed.

We could trade NWG or even just a 2RP to GSW and get Glenn Robinson III. He's an athletic, 6'7" switchy defender who hits 37% of his 3s. He can take Niang's 15 mins/night.

Easy.

If we could pull off one of these Richaun Holmes/Christian Wood energy bigs, that would be fine. It's too bad that Marquese Chriss is an insufferable doofus, or he'd work. Markeiff Morris can be had, though he's not exactly a sharp tack.

Detroit is tearing things down and cutting salary. They have Wood, Morris and Thon Maker all on their team. Unfortunately Maker doesn't rebound for some reason, so he's probably out.

This is the vibe that picture gives off:

I don’t think anything gets done but if something really good came along you could give a team a 2024 1st with very limited protections (like top 6)... a lotto scratcher that could have value. Make it subject to the protections of the Memphis pick... make it convert into two seconds if not conveyed that year.

Not sure anything that good comes along. I just wonder if you went to Detroit with 2-3 seconds for Wood if that would be enough... that’s a lot to get for a guy you claimed off waivers that will be a free agent... it’s found money.

Like say we throw three second round picks in this trade for Wood and Galloway... clear a little space in Davis... would then have bird rights on Galloway and JC... so if one gets to pricey they can walk.

I got intrigued with Galloway for a couple reasons... solid on-ball defender though he can't guard big wings... but also this tidbit from Kirk Goldsberry... Galloway shoots 55% on corner threes this year... look at the right corner... he leads the league in scoring from that spot... look at the other corner... that's our guy Bojan…

We have plenty of young prospects in the pipeline... we have our first this year and likely next year... we don't need all the seconds and can buy back in or pickup second draft or undrafted guys. The backend of the second round is not as valuable since guys like Terrence Davis can tell teams don't draft me and pick their situation.

I feel we could kind of force the issue on a Detroit trade for Wood if we wanted. 3 seconds would cost a maximum of $9-10M... getting a good look at a guy you might invest 3x or 4x that amount is really valuable.

At least KOC would be willing to spend his money and take a flyer on guys like booz and our in the summer. I doubt DL has any plans other than bringing in a bunch of washed old dudes who only wanna collect their paychecks and won't stick around for more than two years. Like Boris, KK, Jeff, Ed, lol... ironically KOC ended his legacy by choosing Raja Bell over Matthews. Guys just won't learn their lesson...
You forgot Bogie idiot.

Get thon maker or Josh Jackson's expiring to clear space for Wood or Jerami grant in the summer. At the very least, we gotta get rid of Ed Davis' contract. No reason to be paying such big money to a nonrotational player

Watch them get Wood.
I’d lose my ****... that can’t happen... analytics love him so I’m sure Morey would love to have him.

Id send several scathing emails and yell at so many clouds.

As good as bogie has been for us, Memo and booz are better signings because they outplayed their contract by a large margin. I don't see much growth in value from bogie deal and he's gonna be 34 by the time his deal expires. That is what we need to do really. Take a flyer on high upside guys and grow them into all-star caliber players for us for years to come. Christian wood could be that same sort of signing for us in the summer if we take a chance. But I highly doubt it.
