If this is the team the Jazz decided to roll, we're pretty much screwed. We'll barely make it pass the 1st rd if we're lucky. Heaven forbid we don't get matched up with the Rockets again. Jazz always seem to curl up and cower while they go up against them every time. But the good news is, the Fakers didn't even do jack either. I'd rather have the Clippers win the championship this year than the hated Fakers.

Taking the ball out of Mitchell's and Ingles' hands is a mistake so let's hope they figure out how to make Mike a $30 million spot up shooter.

Not mad at this point. Jazz almost out off assets. Unless you touch one of the big pieces (blasphemy but I do think about it sometimes) or find a desperate FO, there was not much to do. They already made their moves. Time for Conley to run the show and be ready for postseason, while FO look buyout market or try to get a decent C backup somewhere.

Sad part of it is- it looks like the Jazz are wanting the rest of the team to figure it out, cuz the starters appear to be shackled with Conley whether they like it or not.

Not like Conley is some great point guard. His assist numbers for his career are basically average so far as nba point guards go. Size, athleticism, passing, rebounding...all are below average for nba playoff point guards.

I don’t want any excuses this summer, corrections better be ****ing made. There are plenty of options for the backup 5. For the 4. We’ll have a monstrous expiring in Conley and the full MLE to use among other things. If we stand pat, I’ll lose my ****ing mind.

Is there any way that our relationship with Conley ends badly enough that he just declines his player option and moves on? I highly doubt it at the number he'd be making, but I guess it's possible right?

No. The only scenario where he doesn't pick up his option is if he plays well and thinks he can opt out and get a new 2-year deal in the $18M - $20M range per year.

He could suck, then pout, then demand to be traded, but another team would have to want him.

He gets $34M next year... he might opt out if he has a 25M per year offer for 2 or 3 years... outside of that I don't see it.

I could see him working the back channels and finding out NY would give him like 35M and a second NG year with like 5-6M and taking that if he hated it here.

Our starting lineup have too many ballhandlers . Conley, dm and Joe all need the ball to be effective even bogey needs it. If they don't have the ball they just stand and watch. Poor Rudy all alone trying to grab the rebound.

Time will tell if this was wise. If we were the Houston Rockets (God forbid) we would have traded Mike Conley. Their team won a few games without Capela - and he was a goner.

The Jazz approach is more Spurs-esque. They were supposedly supposed to deal Aldridge, and Kawhi at one point. They kept them, they refused to move LaMarcus and reconciled and they refused to send Kwahi to LA - so they could get something for him instead.

Last time I checked the Spurs have won more championships than the Rockets (lately). The Jazz probably looked at the trade market and realized that they could get the same quality of players on the waiver wire that they could on the trade market (but this way they don't have to give up future assets).

And poor old Rudy can't even be bothered to box out.

Spurs won titles because they had generational talent and landed all star talent with late picks. In the more recent past they have alienated one of the top players in the league... got .50 on the dollar in trade and are a treadmill team. Things have changed... continuity is Coolio, but championship windows are shorter than ever and contenders will churn and add.

I'm cool with not making any moves if we switch up the front court rotation... either you believe in these guys or you need better guys... staying the same will get us bounced in the first round.

What they should do is put Mike's butt on the bench and only give him spot minutes with Mudiay. He takes the ball out of the hands of Donovan, Jingles, and Clarkson, all of whom I'd prefer to have the ball. Maybe then other teams will get a signal that he is on the trading block and we will be able to deal him.

There's certainly a case for such take since Mike has not played anywhere close to what's normally expected. But.. I think we know neither Quin nor Jazz executives or ownership would do that to a player like Conley. I can live with it. And... it still could work.
