HOU defenders had an easy time staying in front of the ball in the last game. UTA has to make it much more uncomfortable for them on that end.

And, the fulcrum of this game comes down to whether UTA can punish the small-ball approach. Obviously. There shouldn’t be a single rational Jazz fan who has a lot of confidence that they can do that.

If we can make Westbrook shoot it's great. The problem is if they pull out Gobert to the perimeter and make Wesbrook drive to the rim. Rivers and Gordon were killing us like that last time.
 
Tempered expectations is definitely the emotionally safe place. I'll be glad to trade WB for Gordon, but again we've been dismantled by gifts the past 6 games.

Gotta watch too see what ideas Quinn has for small ball. If I were coach, I'd almost consider not showing all my cards during the regular season.

Not if Rudy is guarding Westbrook. Which is a look I wouldn't be surprised to see.
 
For real though I feel good about this game. Maybe irrationally. We looked like we finally turned a corner on this slump in the second half of the Blazers game. The defensive effort was better. The hustle was better. Conley has played well since being back in the lineup. Mitchell is due for a big game after slumping and seems to be fired up from the Trent Jr stuff. We should be able to score on the Rockets D. We saw Quin test out Morgan against small ball and I have a feeling we could see more of that. And I keep thinking we're just due for a huge game... idk, we'll see.

The counter is, use this time to mess with some options so it’s not a complete guess come playoff time
 
I think we win this.
Despite our recent struggles I still have a ton of confidence in this team. I think we are more the team that won 19 of 21 than we are the team lost 5 bad games in a row.

part of me thinks you’re right. another part of me thinks we won a bunch of really close games this year and that in a typical year, based on averages, we wouldn’t have been so fortunate.
 
Hopefully the mentalities switch and the Rockets think, “hey, we just beat these guys short-handed on the road” and coast.
