I personally think by installing equipments in your own stadium is cheating, and so they should be stripped.

God no. Sign stealing has been going on since baseball started in the 19th century and this is just a more extreme version of it.

There’ve been rumors that as many as eight teams have been doing it. The Sox, Dodgers among them. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Yanks have been either given everything I know including Chapman’s reaction to Altuve’s HR off him.

On the flip side, I’d guess at least 20-25% of pitchers uses substances to get movement on their pitches. Maybe even way higher. So yeah, whatever.

Yeah but imo this crosses the line, installing equipments in your own stadium where your opponent has no control over. It's an unfair advantage.

You're going over there to someone else's stadium to play ball in good faith, you shouldn't have to look over your shoulders while playing suspecting this and that.

To me that crosses the line.

Nobody is going anywhere to play in good faith. Everybody knows everybody else is doing everything they can to get a leg up. I don’t think it was a secret. If I had to guess, more people and organizations knew about it than didn’t. It just became public. I’d bet a month’s salary that the majority of clubs have some system in place trying to do this.

My point here is that if you want to use "secret messages" it's up to you to keep them secret.

The sign stealing you speak of is 100% different than what the astros got caught doing. Lol. If the guy at second can figure out the hand signs from the catcher and relay them using signs, more power to them, but we are talking about a team installing equipment cameras and getting messages from the ****ing Bench, not someone in the field of play. Speaking as a baseball fan who gets Mlb network every year, this is bad for baseball. I’m pissed stiffer punishments haven’t been passed out. As someone alluded to, if multiple teams are doing this, it needs to stop, and that’s done by making an example of the team that got caught. The way the stros were stealing signs, that’s not baseball. Also, pitchers that use a foreign substance and get caught are thrown out of the game and usually suspended.

This is pretty much how I feel.

If I walk up to the blackjack table and the dealer isn't covering his hole card to the point where I can see it - then that's on them.

However if I'm at that same table and a buddy is at another table signaling me the hole card - then we're probably going to get our heads bashed in and left in an alley somewhere. And deservedly so.

The commish really botched the punishment up. Players get away Scott free. Then the commish says if Astro’s players get thrown at the league won’t stand for it. This means pitchers will have to be extra careful throwing inside to move someone off the plate, and the players will get thrown at. Case in point, Nick Markakis of the Atlanta Braves said every hitter on that team deserves a beating and he is in the national league and hasn’t played against them, and he’s one of the more level headed ball players and one of the most respected and leader in the Braves clubhouse. Mlb is doing no one any favors other than those guilty as sin players.
