Coronavirus

@babe is a ****ing idiot or troll. has to be.

yeah, the cheap labor markets overseas haven’t helped American corporate entities at all. yeah, these companies would be far better off paying Americans 50x the amount.

They should interview someone who died from it and see what they think.

I don't think the purpose of the article was to minimize the concerns, or minimize the fact that the mortality rate is somewhere in the 0.7-2.0% range. This year's flu has a mortality rate of 0.1%; the 1918 Spanish flu a mortality rate of 0.5%. Someone correct me if those figures are wrong. In fact, if I am understanding correctly, some victims will be asymptomatic, and many will have mild to moderate bouts, as this person evidently did. These are just facts as they are emerging at present. Everyone knows it kills, nobody is denying that. I know I am not minimizing it at all. I'm a senior, with preexisting conditions that don't help. I also don't think it helps me to have Boston on one side, and NYC on the other.

Personally I don't think he is an idiot or a troll. I think he is probably mentally unstable and doesn't take the meds that he needs.

Great, someone has it 15 minutes from my house. Another dozen or so have been quarantined.

I went out and stocked up on pasta, rice, mac n cheese, toiletries. Who ****ing knows where this is headed. But if **** gets ugly in another month, and schools and/or businesses start closing, I’d at least like to be stocked up on non-perishables. Probably a 1% chance of that happening but no harm in preparing.

Better to stock up now than later when the panic sets in and there's a run on necessities.

Yeah, I mean I doubt we even get to that point but I know the DOE out here is telling districts to start discussing plans in case they decide to shut down for an extended period. We could honestly tele-teach. Every single kid has their own school-issued laptop. Though probably 10-15% have lost or misplaced their charger and a similar percentage may not have WiFi at home.

I bought four big boxes of brown rice, about 8 pounds of pasta (spaghetti, shells, etc), 6 boxes of Mac n cheese, and two dozen paper towels. Already had about that much at home too.
