Have you ever recorded a jazz game then found out they won and watched it anyways. It’s just not the same. Your glad they won but the entertainment value is hollow.

I wouldn’t record and rewatch the games. But I’d have the memory of the pure adrenaline that comes from multiple rounds of winning playoff basketball and then holding up a trophy. Would you prefer to take one 5 week vacation in a Beach House in Bali, or would you prefer 10 years of getting 2 weeks in St. George, and the second week in St. George you end with getting rained out.
 
A much better question is if you're willing to roll the dice to win a championship. Raptors weren't guaranteed a championship by that trade. They still had to have some luck.

After being in their situation, running it back year after year without making it to the finals, I agree with the logic for a full send. But in general, rolling the dice like that would probably be a no for me. Like, if I was the trailblazers, I might consider something drastic rn. I think they are comparable in my opinion. But, I wouldn’t if I were the Jazz.

But there’s no adrenaline because you know what’s going to happen. Almost like going through life soulless, you may enjoy it a little when they win but the next day you know it will never happen again and that’s when the hollowness sets in

I wouldn't trade Donovan for a 1 year rental of giannis or somebody.

Of course, DeRozan is no Spida imo.
I would trade DeRozan for a kahwi/giannis rental

I think where they are at in their careers makes a difference. DeRozan had been in Toronto a long time. If Mitchell is going into his 10th season like that it's more likely you're willing to take a chance like that.
 
Get the title. Worry about the rest later. Toronto only had Kawhi for one year but they managed to stay competitive this season.
 
There is no other Kawhi out there, coming off an injury, where we can offer 65% of what should be offered. Or another young Siakam right now.

Would you trade Donovan for 1 year of kahwi? Not knowing it would get us a title.

Because it would probably get us a title.

And Toronto didnt just get Kawhi. They unloaded bad salary and also got Danny Green.

The Jazz dont really have any bad salary (Demars contract) to unload, but Kawhi+Green minus Mitchell and Bradley (our equivalent of Poetl) would be Championship favorites this year.
 
A kind of interesting question to me would be:

Would you trade Mitchell and a 1st for Bradley Beal if you knew Beal would re-sign for his max.

Ignore the mess that would be making salaries match, just a straight up trade.

Personally I'd do that. I think this year's Beal is probably the peak of what Mitchell can be, so we can get that now and he's still only (about to be) 27 years old.

Dumb hypothetical cuz Beal is never going to agree pre-trade to stay in Utah, but I think it would be a great deal for both sides.

Because if Kawhi is on Utah this year, he isnt on LA, so that significantly weakens the other contender. That would make it Jazz or Lakers out of the West as the favorites vs winner of Bucks/Raptors (favorites of the East).

I think Mitchell is a great, top 25 type player currently (with potential to hit top 15), but I'm not in love his personality or watching him play the same way I am Gobert or guys in the past like D-Will/(Old)AK
