What's The Last Movie You’ve Seen?

Finally got around to watching The Rise of Skywalker yesterday. I kind of wish I hadn't, that I still lived in a world where I could believe it was a good movie, that it wasn't just a series of vaguely connected scenes that go jarringly from one to the other without regard to plot or character, and every dilemma is resolved through a dues ex machina.

There were some good cameos in it, though, although their use of Carrie Fisher really pisses me off.

Watched Good Boys on HBO last night. Extremely mediocre. Had solid reviews but was just Superbad redone with 12 year olds instead. But done poorly.

Wasn’t she basically drugged and an addict during TWoO?
Yes, that seems to be true. Amphetamines to keep her awake and working for 18 hours a day, benzodiazepines to help her sleep. Smoking and little food to keep her skinny. She was never able to break the addiction and died of an overdose at age 47.

Mickey Rooney (her frequently costar) said the studio didn't give them drugs, but who knows. Maybe it was different for the girls.

The Social Network again. Best movie of the last 15 years. A joke that A Kong’s Speech won best pic.

Nah. Entertaining? Yes. But best? There are so many which I consider are much better (see some on my list a couple of pages ago). Art/movie taste is subjective. We can have favorites but it's hard to claim unanimously one movie as "the best".

Fair. I was drunk when I posted. It’s a joke though that The King’s Speech won.

I've been introducing the National Lampoon Vacation to my kids, 11 and 6 .... Still hold up very well and are substantially more edgy than I remember.

Ranked so far.

1. Christmas Vacation
2. Vacation
3. Vegas Vacation
4. The Ed Helms vacation one from a few years back
5. European Vacation

I agree European one sucks the most.
My favorite is the Wally world one. (I think you called it simply "vacation")
OMG I jerked it so much to Christi Brinkley in that hotel pool scene.

Metropolis(fully restored version) was on TCM, what a wild ride. Visually stunning for when it was made, just the scope of it is insane. Yeah there is a lot of silliness but you can overlook that when it's so far ahead of it's time. Inspired countless movies.

I haven't seen the Ed Helms one, but the rest are perfectly ranked. European Vacation remains the only movie I walked out of the theater on because it was so bad. The only other one I remember walking out of was David Lynch's Dune, and that's because I was sick - I ended up vomiting in the hallway, couldn't even make it to the bathroom.

They did a Christmas Vacation 2 with just Cousin Eddie and his family. I haven't bothered watching that one.

It's not good but it does have its funny moments. It was better than I expected, but I expected nothing.

Honest question, how does Ed Helms get work? Nothing about the dumbass is funny.

Does he still get work? He was ok on the first few seasons of the office. When he became a main character he quickly started sucking though. I can't think of anything he's been in since Hangovers and Vacation though.

Quite a few things. That one where he has to go with his family in a Winnebago to Mexico or somewhere. Drugs were involved. I think he was in that movie Grand Rapids a while back. TAG which was way better than I expected.
