RIFT IN JAZZ LOCKER ROOM

Idk the more I watch Don on his live feeds the more I think this will work for the short term, but I honestly get the feeling Donovan wants more input on what happens with the franchise moving forward. I honestly think part of this is him not wanting to attach his prime to a super-maxed Rudy which is honestly a reasonable worry in my opinion. On his lives Donovan is still very positive in regards to being with the Jazz and in Utah. I've seen him say several times he's happy here. I do think he wants more power within the organization going forward, which is fine, he's earned some say in what happens going forward. In regards to Rudy, I think their relationship is still pretty strained. They'll play together, but I don't think it's going to last long term. I wish he would say something, and eventually he's going to have to, but right now I feel like he, and the Jazz are just wanting to stay silent and let everything die down and deal with it behind the scenes. It is what it is. Donovan is 23, hopefully he can grow from this and become a better leader, I'm sure he doesn't love how it's went.

I never think having players "have more power in the organization" is "fine."

If Donovan wants to be a GM/Player then I hope he finds a team that lets him do that and I hope that team is not the Utah Jazz.

It's already bad enough for teams when the owner wants to be a 2nd GM. The NBA doesn't need players "playing" GM.

A player should by definition not be able to see the forest for the trees because players should be focused on the trees and GMs should be focused on the forest.

Your franchise player having some say in the direction of the organization is okay. Doesn’t mean you listen to everything or do everything the guy says but having a good working relationship with your franchise player is fine. You see it with Dame in Portland as well. He doesn’t control things but he has good contact and input with the front office. It’s fine for a guy to want to have his input heard.

Bump. I’m willing to admit that Donovan being all buddy buddy with Ben Simmons on social media is annoying as **** when it’s been almost 2 months and he still can’t address the situation with his own franchise or do any local media availability while still cashing full checks and playing no basketball. Joe, Georges, and Mike have all done local media availability. Joe’s done a ton of it lol. Rudy did the Taylor Rooks things. But yeah this ***** annoying, also I guess he’s implying Ben should be 1st team all defense here? Sigh.

Relax, Donovan already did Fat Joe.

I think the Jazz ought to send Don's sorry butt to the GLeague for awhile and he might appreciate life in the show a little more after the bus rides and Motel 6 accomodations.

Yeah idk, Dons a good dude, he’s acted childish though. I really want to like him more right now, and he’s an amazing talent the Jazz are lucky to have but his character is very much in question here. He still ha aplenty if time to come back from this bad look but he’s going to need to address this correctly at some point.

I still think it's amazing that through this whole saga that you've convinced yourself that Donovan is the villain here. The man has a right to be upset at how everything played out leading to this, including being upset with Rudy. He hasn't said anything negative about the Jazz or Rudy in public or social media. He's not the bad guy here.

Except all the reports name him specifically (it was without much doubt his camp that leaked the info) and 8 weeks later, he’s the only and most important guy who can’t say the right things publicly for the good of the franchise he claims to care about so much? Nah. Not good enough. He has a right to be upset. Upset or not when you’re in his position if you’re truly a great leader you lead even when things are uncomfortable. He folded. My issue isn’t with him being upset, my issue is with the fact he’s disappeared and hid from the entire situation as this entire situation creates problems for his entire organization publicly. We have time for live streams, good morning America, shoes, and being buddy buddy with Ben Simmons but not time to address the fanbase/franchise situation that helped make you who you are and the teammate that added a ton of wins onto your career. Yeah. Grow up and be a decent face of the franchise and stop hiding. Doesn’t mean I don’t like Don, just means his handling of all this even nearly 8 weeks later has been trash.

That's a whole lot of reading into something when there's not a whole lot of reason to do so.

You have to be joking. ALL of this would go away with a simple media availability from Donovan. You could move beyond it, get out of headlines, it would stop lingering, and it would be FAR FAR better for the franchise is Donovan just did the right thing like a grown *** man and faced the media storm he helped create. He has been a child in THIS situation. It doesn't mean I don't think Donovan has done a lot of great things. He has handled this like an entitled little child who made a mess and now doesn't want to deal with the ramifications of cleaning it up. It's been 8 weeks and it effected you in NO way. Deal with it.

Not really. He could have easily squelched this thing right off the bat. Easily. With like literally a 10 second instagram story. He has chosen not to do so.
Didn't even have to be right off the bat, but its been nearly 2 months. He isn't doing anything whatsoever, still has a job, is still getting paid and this will linger until he says something. I listened to national shows yesterday to get their takes. They aren't buying it and it will linger and continue to gain stories until DONOVAN addresses it. Also, whether things are good or not is irrelevant. You (Donovan) have allowed your organization to be a headline, punchline, and joke for weeks. The Jazz are one of the most solid organizations in the league and Donovans silence has created all sorts of drama for people within the organization.

have to agree to Das

Donovan isn't the one on the court getting silly techs throwing temper tantrums either.

<----- Team Donovan

I didn’t say Rudy wasn’t a child at times to. But Rudy has addressed this. Donovan continues to be a baby and far from a leader or face of the franchise that is respectable right now. I’m team no one, both have been children, at least one of them talked and directly and willingly addressed the situation at hand and answered that question honestly too. Donovan isn’t creating problems for just Rudy, he’s created issues for his teammates and the entire organization he plays for.
