I'm with ya.
A friend of mine used to do this thing where everytime they went on a hike or went to the lake or something they would make each of their 2 kids pick up garbage before having any fun. They would pick up as many pieces of garbage as their age.
I think I will do that with my daughter starting this year

Same goes for the hiking trails and other rivers and lakes. Much harder to get away from people now. (And people leave garbage everywhere in these beautiful places. That REALLY pisses me off. I usually bring a bag and pick up other people's trash when I go into the mountains)

And I don't want the crime and homelessness that typical large cities have.

Everything else I'm fine with.

Totally get that. When I go out to places like that I don't want to feel like I'm at Disneyland waiting for my turn on Space Mountain. Some of the people that go out to the really popular spots on big holiday weekends so that they can camp and "get away" I just don't get. I mean I get that their significant other has the day off or whatever, but I'd much rather burn time off when there's a chance those places won't be completely packed.

I can see that with higher and higher population all the relatively close recreation will be busy 7 days a week. That does suck, a lot.

I love that. I really wish people who received welfare or food stamps or whatever had to contribute in some way like this. Not so easy I know but I think it adds value to the person and community.

And I’m not joking about my list. Murderers I understand. Most men want to strangle their wife at least once a year. I get it. Or vice versa if the male is a POS abusive jerkoff. Heck, even most pedos have an excuse. Most were abused themselves. Rapists, not sure what the stats say on that. But litterers have no ****ing excuse.
 
And I like that idea a lot, fish. I may do something like that with my kid. Whenever I see litter, I honestly wish the municipality made people in charge of cleaning certain areas. Obviously certain areas get more litter than others but then you can have more people assigned to those areas. Have one adult work 8 hours once a year. Twice a year. Considering how many adults there are in a given area, that would be do wonders. Similar to serving one’s nation, I think it would instill a sense of respect for community.
 
I hate litter but I also especially hate waste. This should probably be in the pet peeves thread, but I’m somewhat obsessive-compulsive regarding waste and recycle. Especially metal. That stuff can be reused forever. Keep it in the cycle.

Loathe them. But not top 3. I can recall at least three times I’ve had to say something during movies:

1. A Beautiful Mind-Indian guy directly to my left was saying stuff to his wife
a lot the first 10-20 minutes. I finally asked him to please stop. He did.
2. Zero Dark Thirty-My wife and I were seated all the way at the back of the theatre. Four people came in and sat next to me. Three guys and a girl. One guy was jacked. I remember because one of his buddies was trying to be funny here or there during the movie... probably had made 3-4 comments. Not loud. But loud enough for me to hear two people away. The last one he said was, “Oh, I guess the CIA only hires hot females,” or something like that. I nervously (because guys can fly off the cuff and there were three of them and the one was jacked and I wondered ex-military given the film) without showing it but sternly said, “Can you please stop?!” I’d give that a half exclamation mark if I could. He stopped.
3. I can’t recall the third film. I want to say Mystic River but I might be wrong. There three oldish (50-55) year old men and a woman. One or two of the guys were talking some...I asked them to stop and iirc, the one guy said, “Are you serious?” And I quickly said, “Yeah, I’m serious.” Always hate having to say something because people are psychotic and idiots and who knows who has a weapon nowadays but wtf, I’m not watching a movie with someone talking during it. You wanna do that ****, watch it at ****ing home. They stopped.

Of course you can complain. And I can be amused. Typically it amuses me when my friends with 6 and 7 kids complain.

This is why I live in Wyoming. I can drive to Salt Lake in about an hour. No commute, no state tax, no crime and everything I need is a hop skip and a jump away.

Oh and summer weather can't be beat. Winter on the other hand sucks but it's doable.

The worst place for litter? Major highways. You can pull over on literally any busy highway at literally any point and there will be trash everywhere. Too much to even attempt to pick up cause you wouldn't make a dent.

Me too. Even waste in the form of things like lights being left on.
I'm a light Nazi.

I re use paper towels too if they didn't get used up enough when I first use them.

And a whole bunch of other crap like that
