This is tough
The way I see it, Gandalfe’s bigs are more athletic land more imposing. Mexico’s wings a better by a lot, but Gandalfe has the better pg.

The big difference to me is the bigs. What people don’t know is in Truck’s one season with the jazz, he was 8th in mvp voting. He averaged 22 points and led the league in rebounding. Was athletic as hell with good touch from midrange.

Did you mean to say he can’t stretch the floor. Millsap didn’t really start shooting threes till he joined the hawks, even then he was never consistent

Jesus, you’re a dolt. Look at the players and their stats when with the Jazz.

Ok idiot. He had Hood and Niang who could stretch the floor. Technically Harpring could be considered a floor stretcher, but two issues with him. First, he had one year where he consistently made threes, but in that season he averaged less than one three per game, granted almost one three at 0.8 per.

second he played mostly inside the three point line and played a lot in the post with his main weapon the curl mid range shot, so he kinda did stretch the floor but also kinda didn’t. Goodrich didn’t shoot threes, and price sucked as well.

so tell me how his team stretches the floor?

Nevermind. Ron can stretch the floor.

Again I ask you to compare threes.

Millsap>Truck
Harpring>Morris
Hood>Boone

And Goodrich would’ve had to be better than Green’s 20%.

Like are you that slow? Seriously? There’s no comparison here.

I was never arguing who was better at it, but Ron’s team doesn’t really stretch the floor much at all. Harpring doesn’t even spend much time behind the line. So he’s got two players that stretch the floor with any consistency. I don’t see that as any kind of big advantage for Ron, minimal at best. The key is in Harpring’s playing style.

Harpring shot 41% from 3 on two attempts per game. That's more shots than anyone on Gandalfe's team except for Chris Morris who was an inefficient chucker. Hood shot 39% at a rate that far exceeded Morris'. And given the body of work, I think it is a wholly reasonable argument to say that Millsap had the ability to shoot the 3 when he was with the Jazz and that our coaching was too conservative.

Players that can't shoot don't do this:

Frankly neither of these teams will be gunning from long range. That wouldn't even be a minor factor. The difference is in the bigs and interior play. Gandalfe wins this one. Probably in 6 games.

Harpring shot 41% from 3 on two attempts per game.
My point is he didn’t shoot much because he didn’t spend much time behind the 3 line. He was mostly an inside to midrange player so even though he shot well it didn’t matter because he was either posting up or running his midrange curl
Millsap had the ability to shoot the 3 when he was with the Jazz

The rule is you use best jazz year. He didn’t really shoot threes with the jazz. Therefore he’s not a three point shooter with the jazz.

Another issue with stretching the floor is his entire team averages 13-14 3’s a game. There isn’t much floor stretching.

If we read this as strictly by statistics, none of the teams loaded with old-fogeys can make any argument about their spacing. Including yours with Pistol Pete.

I think it is more sensible, charitable, and fun to interpret a player's ability at a given time and to be able to apply such ability to different coaching methods. Harpring could shoot 3s and should've, same with Millsap. In either case, @Ron Mexico is wildly ahead on spacing/shooting in this matchup.
