Another issue with stretching the floor is his entire team averages 13-14 3’s a game. There isn’t much floor stretching.

It would not be a stretch to think they would shoot much more in Numb's team. A little less efficient with more attempts.

If we read this as strictly by statistics, none of the teams loaded with old-fogeys can make any argument about their spacing. Including yours with Pistol Pete.

I think it is more sensible, charitable, and fun to interpret a player's ability at a given time and to be able to apply such ability to different coaching methods. Harpring could shoot 3s and should've, same with Millsap. In either case, @Ron Mexico is wildly ahead on spacing/shooting in this matchup.
I’d agree with you if every time we did an all time draft my thinking has always been how it’s done. Even with Jerry west the argument was made he didn’t have a three point line.

The way I see it, Gandalfe’s bigs are more athletic land more imposing. Mexico’s wings a better by a lot, but Gandalfe has the better pg.

The big difference to me is the bigs. What people don’t know is in Truck’s one season with the jazz, he was 8th in mvp voting. He averaged 22 points and led the league in rebounding. Was athletic as hell with good touch from midrange.
You're understand Eaton and Millsap a lot. Millsap was a solid mid-range shooter and could hit the three from time to time but wasn't asked to until he left the jazz. Millsaps best year was here. Eaton was an elite rim protector. Arguable the best shot blocker of all time.

Green could not shoot. That kills teams from the PG position. Eaton could just live at the rim no one can pull him away.

Then there are Hood and Harpring who are a much better duo.

Millsap was never as good as that one year with the jazz for Truck. He was every bit as good a shooter as Millsap and a better rebounder by far. Millsap shot one three every 3 games or so. Lol

Eaton was slow of foot and wouldn’t have gotten nearly as many blocks. Just think of what Gobert would’ve done had he played in the 90’s. He’s a better rim protector, defender, and rebounder. Lol imagine Eaton trying to guard on the perimeter. Gobert is by far the more superior player

Agreed. It's not even close.

Gobert is a slimmer, faster Eaton. Who knows not to bring the ball down within reach of the guards every time he gets a rebound.

For Ron Boone are we counting his time on the stars or just the jazz? He was an animal on the stars and could definitely shoot the long ball.

Next time I’d definitely add the stars to deepen the talent pool
Yeah Boone had multiple (edit: 2) seasons at 25+ per game and had a very complete game to boot. Good rebounder and defender for his size.

His best season was 26 pts 1.7 steals, 4.5 rebs and assts, 49% from the field, 89% ft. That's stellar.

Gobert is more made for today's game. He wouldn't have been as good back then. The game was too physical for him. Eaton was slow getting up down the court. He isn't made for today's game as much.

But in this scenario he doesn't have to guard on the perimeter. Gobert isn't pulling him away, nor does Green pull him out for a pick.

Think of all the elite centers that played back then and Eaton was much better than at blocking shots. That's in the time of actual centers and bigs. We don't have many true centers nor many strong PFs any more. It's a different game.

I've seen highlights of truck and he seemed pretty good and had some decent stats. They aren't that much better than Millsaps scoring and they are better at rebounding. But he wasn't known as a good defender like Millsap was. He also did help win with the Jazz although I think that was more pistol. It's hard to compare those two.

And again if you want to talk about modern game then the other three positions matter more an I'm much much better at those. You can't have a non shooting PG you need good wing players and I'm much better there.
