What if we traded Andrei Kirilenko for Boris Diaw last offseason?

Even if we only end up getting the 12th pick from Golden State, that will get us a guy like Terrence Jones or Austin Rivers. That Minnesota pick could realistically be the #1 in easily the most loaded draft since '08 (or possibly earlier). And who knows, the Jazz might've been able to get the Clippers' 2011 unprotected that they gave to Cleveland as well.

Great deal for Denver. Decent deal for NJ. Okay deal for Charlotte. Nothing really, but a cost-saving deal for Utah.

When evaluating the Deron Williams trade, people need to understand that the Jazz were at a crossroads and needed to rebuild the entire team, not just tweak a position or two and save a few bucks. If the Jazz thought they could attract a major free agent to pair with D.Will, then maybe trading AK for expiring deals and saving money makes sense. But there isn't a FA that will change the Jazz's fortunes, and if you look at the larger strategy, the Jazz are rebuilding the entire roster. By this time next year, the Jazz will likely have six lottery picks, young players that complement one another, all acquired within the space of 18 months. Plus they have Jefferson, Millsap, Harris, Miles and Okur's expiring deal as trade chips. No one is set up better for the longer term than the Jazz, except OKC, maybe the Clippers, and the teams that get Drummond and Davis in next year's draft.

True, and the Clippers are going to get a stud to pair with Griffin and Gordon, but I'd bet a good amount of money it won't be the #1 pick (or they at least they won't have the best chance in the lottery). I'm guessing the Raptors, Pistons, Bobcats, and Cavs all have worse records than the T-Wolves this year.

But let's drop this hypothetical debate. I think we're all very happy with what we got from New Jersey.
 
I really think Utah might have the pieces to make a playoff run, if everybody stays healthy and we have a season. I really liked the idea I read about Trying to trade Okur for Calderon, resign AK and Fez (big body, cheap insurance)

With Fez, Bell, and maybe Sebastin Telfer be 3rd string. Seriously how could that team not make the playoffs?
 
and I'm happy with how the Dwill trade worked out. I just can't wait tell for the season to start (please be a season) then draft so Utah can draft the PG of the future, to grow with Burk, Hayward, Favors, Kanter.

So we can spend ~9 million next season on our Backup PG?

I thank God everyday that Kevin O'Connor is our General Manager.
