Conley Benched

The offense when DM's on the floor honestly can't get a whole lot better.... Please tell me how much better Mike makes it? Then also please tell me who in the starting lineup you'd like him to guard? Also, please understand that bringing him off the bench is not like putting him in purgatory and not playing him. If the plan is to play Morgan as the backup 5 or 4 I can probably tolerate Mike starting.
He makes the offense better because he's another ball-handler who can shoot. Just because the Jazz had two good offensive games without Conley doesnt mean we are guaranteed to do it in game 3. Conley raises that odds that the Jazz offense performs well. It gives them more weapons. Don't be daft.

Your claim has already been adequately challenged by HH’s citing of MC’s TS%, but I’d also like to ask you who you send to the bench. Joe and Royce were both huge today.
Morgan lmao. Why on Earth would it be Joe or Royce?

I think it makes sense to bring him off the bench in all scenarios, but it’s especially obvious to do so against the Nuggs.
Whispers.... the only reason not to is vanity.... and it ain’t really mikes vanity... it’s the front office.

@Tony Jones was scoffing on the social media at why we would even question who will start... every time someone responds with something mockingly saying...

1-he’s Mike Conley.... MIKE EFFING CONLEY!

2- Yeah the guy we are paying max money for is coming off the bench.... hardy har har.

3- right the guy we traded all those assets for is coming off the bench... lmfao

no one mentions who he will guard in those first few minutes... no one mentions why he has to start and why the minutes can’t be staggered early.

He should be a net positive but it will be a huge huge positive if we bring him off the bench imo. If that means he gets 25 minutes instead of 30 I’m cool with that personally. His production this year has not justified taking the ball out of Joe and DMs hands... they are in a groove and if mike struggles it may throw those guys off. It will almost certainly **** up the defense which is already struggling at times.

Quin knee this was the right move in season... it’s why he did it. DL couldn’t handle how it’d look... the only reason to move away from what we are doing now is for someone’s ego to get stroked.

Championship teams have routinely had great players come off the bench to maximize the full roster. The fact that we won’t ask this or don’t have the stones to do it kinda tells me we don’t think of ourselves that way.

Let’s hear about the probabilities for the other half of the game. Tia.

Also, the last part isn't true. His TS% is significantly lower than almost every rotation player we have. Just looking at wing guys he's lower than Joe, Royce, DM, and JC.
Sweet, TS%.

The ************ shoots 43% on wide open 3's (51% since All-Star Break, including 48% on all C&S 3's).

The Nuggets are going to come out with adjustments on defense. They won't be ready for Conley. It's a no-brainer to start him and it's not even arguable.

Because Tony right and yall are being super goofy.

Lol.

If you thought Mitchell and Ingles shredded Denver's defense today, wait til the Jazz add another guy who can create off the dribble and get his own shot.

Conley just played against Denver like 10 days ago and he had 20/5/5. He's one more guy who can hurt the Nuggets when their defense gets in a scramble. Plus he can stagger minutes and help keep Mitchell and Ingles fresher for the 4th quarter. There's too much load on those two right now.

As a starting point, he can take 14 mins from Mudiay and 5 mins from Niang. He can take a few mins from Clarkson too, if JC isn't feeling it. It's just nice to have another guy who can play. Then find another 10 - 12 mins with the starters to get him up to about 30 mpg.

Whoa that's awesome a 15 game sample of him shooting well. Someone on the site mentioned today that shooters can slump... can they also get hot?

Offense isnt the problem and unless Denver's adjustment is to get better personnel on the court we won't have an issue scoring in that unit that started the last two games.

Also you know that he can still get 30 minutes by coming off the bench... like this is a strategy that hall of fame coaches have used... but yeah... let's roll with a midget starting lineup against a huge starting lineup and see how that works.

I would love nothing more than to see us absolutely smoke Denver from the jump and have Conley go off early. I don't see that lineup being able to hang defensively, so they better be world beaters.

Lots of Hall of Fame coaches also started their best players and won games too.

There is this thing called diminishing returns.

It is easier to stagger minutes if you start staggered. Having Mike come in and play the first 4-6 minutes then pulling him out benefits us how? How fresh is DM going to be when he checks Murray for the first 4-6 minutes because Mike is too small.

"Jazz scored well for two games that means they have no problem whatsoever with scoring and dont need to maximize their shooting talent in their lineups that feature Gobert and Mitchell" - something seriously said by a person on JFC.

Conley can switch off of Torey Craig to double wherever he needs to.

Conley--> Craig
Mitchell--> Porter
Royce --> Murray
Ingles --> Millsap
Gobert --> Jokic

Jazz opened with this against Denver 10 days ago and won the 1st quarter 29-15. Make Denver beat this lineup, then adjust if you have to.

That's 4 shooters playing off of Rudy screens, and 3 guys who can create with Rudy in pick-and-roll. One of those guys is Mitchell, who is averaging 44 ppg in the series.
