Murkowski already has said No.
So I think we just need 2 more. Romney and Collins?
Edit: 3 more. Not sure how we get there.
Some truth from Thriller. Political reality. This is what Republicans have been trying for, for decades. Now they have the opportunity. Think they would really sink their own president's nomination right at election time and blow this opportunity? This is a massive moment. Massive. No matter what Romney thinks of Trump, I cannot see him voting no on a qualified conservative judge.
Murk didn't vote in the Kavenaugh confirmation. Collins has said she opposes a vote but didn't not say she would vote no or not vote.
Getting 4 republicans to stop this....I don't see it at all.
RBG caused this. She gambled on Hillary winning. When Trump won....well.....
If the situation was reversed, what would a democrat president and senate do?
I have no doubt that the Democrats will try anything and everything to stop this. But when it comes down to it, what can they really do?
All the complaining and whining just makes me happier.
I was a teen during the Bork hearings. Since then, I wanted revenge. Bork was more than qualified. But Ted Kennedy knew that they had to block him at any cost, because he was a staunch conservative and constitutionalist. Just went to show what the Democrats thought of the supreme court and how they had to control it. Purely political and nothing to do with Bork's credentials and qualifications.
That was the end of civility and non-partisainship when it came to the Supreme Court. The democrats really showed what they were about in blocking Bork. But, they had the power to do it.
Now the republicans have the power to do what they are about to do.
Sometimes the irony is rich. Bork died during Obama's term. RBG could have retired during Obama's term and didn't.
